''Don’t accept PDP’s apology'' Bola Tinubu tell Nigerians

National leader of the All Progressives Congress APC, Bola Tinubu, has asked Nigerians not to accept the apology issued by the opposition party few days ago. PDP National chairman, Uche Secondus at a Nation Building event organized by the party, said the party has in the last three years seen all the mistakes they made during their 16 years in office and will like to correct them if given the opportunity to come vack to office in 2019. Secondus appealed to Nigerians to vote the party back into power during the 2019 election.

Reacting to the apology, Bola Tinubu at the colloquium organized to mark his 66th birthday which had in attendance President Buhari, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo and many others, said Nigerians should not accept the oppositions apology. Tinubu likened the party's apology to the case of a thief who is only begging because he was caught in the act.

''Dear Nigerians, do not take their apology. They lied. They falsified. They even changed figures. For 16 years, they made fake promises and gave us fake figures. And they said we should not talk about it. It is like saying after all they did wrong, do not look at me. Just steal your own. That we will not take it off the table…no matter how twisting the mind of PDP and their supporters may be, we will continue to talk about it because you wasted our resources. You did not do what you promised Nigerians, what you said you would do when you were in office. The market gave you the maximum and production was also at maximum.”

Continuing, the former Lagos state governor said 

“President Buhari has changed the economy from the wrong direction to steer the ship back before the final crash because it was necessary. We have started the journey. And the voyage is on the voyage of hope and the voyage that we are reclaiming Nigeria. We are retooling Nigeria. We are reinventing Nigeria. We are redirecting Nigeria.”

''This government is completely compromised'' Tunde Bakare

Pastor of the Latter Rain Assembly and one time vice presidential candidate, Tunde Bakare, says Nigerians can shut down the government as a result of the repeated herdsmen killings. 

According to him, the recent directive by the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, that vigilante groups and weapons bearing individuals should surrender their weapons without mking reference to the herdsmen, shows that the Buhari-led administration is completely compromised.

Special Fraud Unit arrests 'fake' Benin prince who defrauded ex-lawmaker of $1.5m

Police detectives attached to the Special Fraud Unit (SFU), Milverton, Lagos State, have arrested some men, who posed as international businessmen, members of House of Representatives and members of Benin Kingdom’s royal family to defraud a former lawmaker of $1.5 million.

According to reports, Investigation of the suspects started on July 28, 2017 with a crack team of detectives going to Murtala International Airport, Lagos State, to arrest the syndicate’s leader identified as Franklin Osiemwonyi Izekor, 45, aka Prince Joshua Akenzua. It was learnt that rather than follow the policemen, Izekor resisted arrest, fought the policemen and even attempted to abduct one of the policemen in his car.  

Although the lawmaker, Eseme Eyiboh, told detectives that he was swindled of over $1.5 million, Izekor insisted that the money was just $1 million and another N47 million. A police source said: “The amount of money involved in this scam is no longer the issue. What’s important is that the principal suspect, Franklin Osiemwonyi Izekor, who was posing as a prince of Oba of Benin, admitted that he actually defrauded the victim.”

Aside Izekor, other members of the syndicate are Stephen Victor aka James Ajayi, Bolade Babatunde aka Honourable Lawal Adewunmi, Tola aka Peter Ajayi (still at large) and Alhaji Saka Jimoh (67). How the syndicate was able to zero in on the lawmaker is still nebulous, however, it was learnt that trouble started for Eyiboh after he landed a juicy contract with Exxon Mobil.

He needed some items, which were mostly overseas to execute the contract. The lawmaker was aware that there is an anti-bulk movement of money treaty, including dollars, which Nigeria is a signatory to. He was not too sure how to get the vital items from overseas, especially since he couldn’t transfer bulk dollars.  One day, he received a phone call from his colleague Honourable Lawal Adewunmi (Bolade Babatunde), who was also a member of the House of Representatives.

He didn’t know that he was speaking with a fake ‘Honourable Lawal Adewunmi.’ ‘Adewunmi’ exchanged pleasantries and soon delved into businesses. Eyiboh, thinking he was speaking with a concerned friend, spilled out his gut and his present contract. ‘Adewunmi’ then promised to link him up with some international businessmen, who were agents of a company called ‘International Foreign Exchange Monitoring Agency. Eyiboh was made to believe that it was an international money order organisation and an affiliate of American Forex Organisation with address at Plot 16, Agbara Estate, Ogun State.

The syndicate convinced Eyiboh to part with $30,000 which was supposed to be money for him to be part of the organisation. After paying the money, he was given a registration form to fill and return. A member of the syndicate, Stephen Victor, who called and introduced himself as James Ajayi, met with Eyiboh at his residence in Abuja, where he used the opportunity to screw every loose nuts into place, drawing the lawmaker completely into their web of deceit. Eyiboh later alleged that Izekor presented himself as Prince Joshua Akenzua, representing International Foreign Exchange Monitoring Agency, which could assist him to acquire some equipment needed to execute a contract he won with Exxon Mobil. “The lawmaker said that he paid N47,133,000, through four bank accounts. Later, Izekor collected $45,000 in cash from him,” the police source added.  

On August 8, 2017, Izekor was arrested at the local wing of the Murtala Muhammed Airport, Ikeja, Lagos, while trying to collect more money from Eyiboh. Izekor’s statement was later used to arrest Stephen and Babatunde. “Investigation revealed that Izekor, Babatunde, Stephen and Tola conspired to fraudulently obtain from the complainant various sums of money amounting to N47,133,000 and $45,000.

According to Twitter user @imperatorduduosa, 'he attended a party where he ingested an unknown quantity of liquor, codeine syrup, tramadol and marijuana. He ended up with bleeding from nostrils and mouth. And intractable seizures. He died in ICU'.

Buhari mourns late lawmaker, Jibril

President Muhammadu Buhari on Friday commiserated with the family of the Deputy Majority Leader of the House of Representatives, Umar Jibril, who died earlier in the day.

The President, in a statement by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, sympathised with the leadership and members of the House of Representatives in particular and the National Assembly in general, over the lawmakers death.

“President Buhari also extends heartfelt condolences to the people of Kogi State whom the late lawmaker represented creditably for many years at both the state and national legislatures.He described the deceased as a humble and vibrant national legislator.

“The President prays that Allah will comfort all who mourn the late Jibril and grant his soul eternal rest,” the statement read.

PDP’s apology borne out of desperation to recapture power – Presidency

The Presidency on Friday warned Nigerians to be cautious of the recent apology offered by the National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Uche Secondus.

It said the “less-than-honest apology” was borne out of the opposition party’s desperation to regain power.

Shehu said just like the Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, had said, there are heavy moral duties that go with apologies if the culprits want to be taken seriously.The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, said this in a statement made available to journalists.

He said, “The PDP is desperate to recapture power because it no longer has unhindered access to national resources for private uses and its apology should be seen in this context.

“The PDP has not even acknowledged the fact that it plundered the national economy, and for a party that dismissed the anti-corruption war as a political witch hunt, it is impossible to believe that its public apology comes from the bottom of the heart.

“Even desperate thieves apologise because they are caught and not because they are incapable of repeating the crime if they had another opportunity.

“We believe that the PDP should not only apologise for the imposition of candidates, and the culture of impunity, but must also come clean and acknowledge that they participated in large scale corruption and massive diversions of public funds to private pockets while poverty was ravaging the ordinary Nigerians.

“We challenge individual PDP leaders to publicly and voluntarily tell Nigerians how much they stole and then agree to cough up their illegal acquisitions of wealth if they want their apology to be taken seriously.

“Apology borne by desperation to recapture power without a desire to admit how much they stole and the reluctance to return the loot is morally hollow.”

He said for such apology to gain acceptance, the offenders must first of all show remorse; then return that which was unlawfully taken or restore the damage caused the nation.While saying the apology should go beyond rebranding, the presidential spokesman said Nigerians were interested in brands but they want their money back.

Thereafter, he said such offenders should commit to never doing the wrong they did again.

He said the PDP had done none of these for the party to be taken seriously by anyone.

Instead of addressing the issue raised by the Mohammed, the presidential spokesman noted that the PDP veered off to accuse the present administration of borrowing money.

FG lists names of alleged looters

The Federal Government has released a list of some of those who have allegedly looted the nation’s treasury.

The Minister of Information, Mr. Lai Mohammed, released the list during a press conference in Lagos on Friday.

The names in the list revealed by the Federal Government include PDP chieftains who are currently being tried for corruption and financial crimes.According to Channelstv Mohammed said the individuals include officials in the past government.

“The PDP has challenged us to name the looters under their watch. They said they did not loot the treasury. Well, I am sure they know that the treasury was looted dry under their watch. Yet they decided to grandstand. This shows the hollowness of their apology,” Mohammed said as he released the names.

1. PDP Chairman Uche Secondus.

Allegation: On the 19th of Feb 2015, he took N200 million only from the office of the NSA.

2. Former PDP Financial Secretary.

Allegation: On the 24th of Oct 2014, he took N600 million only from the office of former NSA.

On trial for allegedly collecting N1.4bn from the office of former NSA.3. Former National Publicity Secretary Olisah Metuh.

4. Dr Raymond Dokpesi, Chairman of DAAR Communications.

On trial for allegedly taking N2.1 billion from the office of the former NSA.

5. Former SSA to President Goodluck Jonathan, Dudafa Waripamo-Owei

On trial, over N830 million allegedly kept in accounts of four different companies.

6. Former President Goodluck Jonathan’s Cousin Robert Azibaola

On Thursday, a Federal High Court ruled that he has a case to answer for allegedly collecting $40 million from the office of former NSA.

The decision by the APC-led government to reveal the names of the alleged looters and the funds allegedly stolen is in response to the opposition party, PDP’s, challenge to the government to name those alleged to have looted the country and destroyed the economy.

We are ready for war until we take over our land Nigeria, says Fulani on press release

The Fulani Nationality Movement, (FUNAM) after extensive deliberations on the state of the nation in the context of the recent killings and national uproar, met today in Kano, the capital of Kano State.

 

Among other things, the FUNAM deliberated on attacks on cattles by rustlers, kidnap of Fulani men and women in some parts of Nigeria, displacement of Fulani traditional settlements in Northern Nigeria and some parts of Southern Nigeria, stealing of properties belonging to Fulani cattler owners amongst other issues.

 

The group also deliberated on the political situation in Nigeria occassioned by the irresponsible calls for restructuring of Nigeria, the historic and vicious attacks on Fulani people by Southern nationalities and their cohorts in the middle belt, the plot to ensure Fulani are pushed to the backbench in the power equation in Nigeria and above all, the vicious campaign against the God ordained place of Fulani as the leading star guide in Nigeria, and after extensive deliberations, we hereby make the following declarations:

 

a) That the killings in Benue of Tiv is well deserved. It was a revenge attack on the series of onslaught on the Fulani which was most horrendous on November 17 2017 when 30 Fulani men and women were killed in Nasarawa State. We notice the recalcitrant culture of the Tiv people as demonstrated even during the 1804 Jihad when they obstructed our ordained conquest of Nigeria.

 

b) We condemn the media propaganda being waged against the Fulani and supported by Yoruba, Igbo and their bigotry allies in the Middle Belt.

 

c) That we are aware of plots by the minority ethnic groups in the Middle Belt to attack Fulani settlements.

 

d) That we have asked all Fulani across West Africa to raise money and arms to prosecute the oncoming war. We call on all Fulanis to prepare for this Holy War. There is no going back. All over the world, Nigeria is the only country given to Fulani by God.

 

e) We oppose the anti-grazing laws which obstruct the ability of Fulani to move freely and stay anywhere in Nigeria. The Fulani, if not for the British would have actually conquered the entire Nigeria which God has ordained as our dominion.

 

f) That the Cattle Colony is the only solution to the crisis. Whether the Federal Government or State Governments accept or not, we have asked all Fulani herdmen all over West Africa to move to Nigeria and penetrate every corner for the upcoming Jihad. We have asked them to be armed since it seems it is the only language Nigeria understands. The Nigerian Government has failed to protect us.

 

g) We warn those who oppose the Fulani cattle trade to be cautious of the consequences. We are ready for the worse. We are prepared for war. There is hope for peace if and only if attacks on Fulani herdsmen stop and the Fulani is allowed to settle anywhere that the Fulani chose to settle in Nigeria.

 

We are Nigerians and are free to settle anywhere we desire with our culture, our families, our commerce and our values to the glory of Almighty Allah. Any attempt(s) to reverse these demands will be met with Holy Uprising never before seen in the History of Nigeria and in the scale compared only with the 1804 Jihad. A word is enough for the wise. The Fulani is capable of defending itself”.
