Estate agents executed after "burying clients alive" to steal property

Two estate agents who klled six people after deceiving them into giving up their homes have been executed. The "evil" gang consisting of three men and one woman buried their victims alive. As a result two of the men were sentenced to death, the other man was sentenced to 22 years in prison while the woman was spared death because Belarus does not execute women. She was, however, sentenced to 24 years in prison. The group were convicted of persuading six lonely "alcoholics" who lived on their own in Mogilyov region to exchange their flats for smaller apartments and some money. They were shown their "new homes", which in reality is a flat the estate agents had rented for a day. After they had signed over their old residence to a gang member, the evil estate agents offered them vodka to celebrate completing the deal. But the shots were spiked with medication Clonidine to make them drowsy. Then they were taken to "abandoned places" and killed, or in several cases, according to police, were buried alive.Three empty graves had been prepared for "future victims" when the men were caught, a court heard.Igor Gershankov, 37, and Semyon Berezhnov, 32, were sentenced to death. Semyon Berezhnov  Belarus is the only country in Europe that still allows executions. Alexander Lukashenko, the President who has ruled Belarus for almost 25 years, refused to pardon both men so they went ahead with their execution. The men were ordered to kneel then shot in the back of the head with a pistol by a state executioner in a Minsk jail, say sources. Their families were not informed in advance that the men would be killed nor permitted a final meeting. It is unclear exactly when the executions were carried out as the authorities routinely do not give details.Gershankov’s wife Tatiana, mother of the couple’s two underage children, was sentenced to 24 years thanks to the country's laws which does not execute women.  Igor Gershankov and wife Tatiana A fourth member of the gang of "black estate agents" named as Boris Kolyosnikov, 22, was jailed for 22 years.

Cross River State Police warn social media users and bloggers operating in the state to desist from spreading fake news

Cross River State Police warnsocial media users and bloggers operating in the state to desist from spreading fake newsThe Police Command in Cross River has warned social media users and bloggers operating in the state to desist from using `online’ to spread fake news. The command gave the warning in a statement by its Spokesperson, Irene Ugbo, a Deputy Superintendent of Police, on Friday in Calabar. Ugbo said that some bloggers and social media users were in the habit of posting fake news in their blogs and websites to propagate cheap blackmail by inciting the public against government institutions.   She said that the command, in collaboration with the leadership of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) in the state would not hesitate to deal decisively with any individual or group peddling fake news.  According to her, some of the bloggers who have joined the media profession without requisite training and journalism background were frustrating the cordial working relationship of NUJ and the Police in the state.   Ugbo said that some unscrupulous social media bloggers were trying to frustrate the media’s effort and reputation gained in championing the enthronement of democracy and respect for human rights in the country.  “They are in a habit of posting fake and unconfirmed stories in their respective websites and social media platforms, aimed at cheap blackmail and spread of rumour to incite the public against government institutions. In the same vein, the command wants to categorically state that the fake news making rounds on social media that three babies were stolen at the University of Calabar Teaching Hospital is not true. The story is a blatant lie and calculated attempt to undermine or tarnish the hospital’s reputation, thereby causing security breach in the state and the hospital,’’ she stated.

78-year-old man confesses to killing 90 women since 1970

A convcited felon in a Texas prison has confessed to killing 90 women since 1970, according to a shocking FBI report released this week.Samuel Little, 78, who is already serving multiple life sentences, reportedly began speaking to investigators last spring in exchange for a prison transfer after losing an appeal.Little, who may be "among the most prolific serial killers in U.S. history", told investigators he may have committed as many as 90 murders and authorities have evidence of his ties to 36 of them so far, the FBI said.ABC News reports that the FBI said it is now working with the Department of Justice’s Bureau of Justice Assistance, the Texas Rangers and dozens of other state and local law enforcement agencies "to match Little’s confessions with evidence from women who turned up dead in states from California to Florida between 1970 and 2005."Little is in poor health and will likely die in prison, the FBI said, so investigators are racing to identify as many of his victims as possible and help close these unsolved cases.  Little, who was once a competitive boxer, often knocked out his victims and then strangled them, sometimes leaving no clear signs of a homicide, according to the FBI. Many of their deaths were attributed to natural causes, overdoses or accidents, officials said. One of Little's confessions involves the fatal shooting of a woman in Richland County, South Carolina, more than 40 years ago, the AP reported.Evelyn Weston, 19, was shot in the head in September 1978, and now-sheriff Leon Lott of the Richland County Sheriff's Department examined her body at the time. Forty years later, Lott is still on the force and got the call from officials in Texas that Little had confessed to shooting a woman in the head there, the AP reported.

See where residents of Anguwar Bakaro, Bauchi reportedly fetch drinking water

A Facebook user, Aminu Attahiru Abubakar took to the platform to call out the Bauchi State Government for their ''non-chaland attitude towards handling the affairs of the state.'' He shared photos of commuters fetching 'drinking' water from a pipe inside a dirty place and wrote; This is Anguwar Bakaro. Just look at the place where people are fetching water to drink in Bauchi State. It is a major failure which may result to cholera epidemic and cause death. I can excuse the government reasons for failure to complete other projects but if they cannot provide ordinary tap water for people in 4yrs, what excuse should I give them? Haba Dan Allah!  With all due respect to His Excellency, I like him as a person but his nonchalant attitude towards handling the affairs of our state is totally uncalled for. And his failure to fulfill his campaign promises such as providing water to the citizens is one of the reasons why I want him out of office. Let's try another person gaskia.

I am a descendant of Abraham, I don't hate Christians- President Buhari says

President Buhari has once again reacted to his perceived hatred for Christians. In a new article published on Churchtimes, a UK based online christian platform, President Buhari said just like many Christians, he is a descendant of Abraham and that he does not hate anyone that is of the Chjristian faith, afterall his deputy is a Christian. He advised Nigerians not to allow politicians use religion as a tool to divide the country. Read his article below ''IN 1844, the Revd Samuel Ajayi Crowther returned home to Yorubaland (now part of modern-day Nigeria). Twenty years earlier, he had been kidnapped and sold to European slave traders who were bound for the Americas. He was freed by an abolitionist naval patrol, and received by the Church Missionary Society. There, he found his calling.Crowther made his voyage home to establish the first Anglican mission in Yorubaland. He came with the first Bibles translated into Yoruba and Hausa languages. He opened dialogue and discussion with those of other faiths. And his mission was a success: Crowther later became the first African Anglican bishop in Africa.Today, Nigeria has the largest Christian population on the continent. The messages and teachings of Christianity are part of the fabric of each person’s life.ALONG with the millions of Christians in Nigeria today, I believe in peace, tolerance, and reconciliation; in the institution of the family, the sanctity of marriage, and the honour of fidelity; in hope, compassion, and divine revelation.Like Bishop Crowther, I am a descendant of Abraham; unlike him, I am a Muslim. I believe our two great religions can not only peacefully coexist but also flourish together. But Muslims and Christians must first turn to one another in compassion. For, as it says in Amos 3.3: “Do two walk together, unless they have agreed to meet?”As they are People of the Book, I believe that there is far more that unites Muslims and Christians than divides them. In fact, I believe that the messages of the Bible are universal: available for anyone to exercise, and instructive to all.We must resist the temptation to retreat into our communities, because, if we do, we can only look inwards. It is only when we mix that we can reach new and greater possibilities.Whichever religion or religious denomination they choose to follow, Nigerians are devout. Anything that Nigerians believe will place impositions on their practice, and belief is therefore sure to cause widespread alarm. And, unfortunately, there are those who seek to divide Nigerians — and our two great religions — and to do so for their own advantage.I stand accused — paradoxically — of trying to Islamise Nigeria while also being accused by Boko Haram terrorists of being against Islam. My Vice-President is a devout man, a Christian pastor. He, too, is accused of selling out his religion, because of his support for me.This is not the first time that I — nor, indeed, my Christian-Muslim evenly split cabinet — have been the subject of such nonsense. Fortunately, the facts speak differently from the words of those who seek to divide us from one another.Since my administration has been in power, Boko Haram has been significantly and fatally degraded; I have befriended church leaders and church groups both within and outside our country; my Vice-President has addressed and opened dialogue with Muslims up and down our land.In all things, we seek that which all well-meaning Christians and well-meaning Muslims must seek: to unite, respect, and never to divide. Does it not say “There is no compulsion in religion” (Qur’an 2.256)? Does it not say “Forbid him not: for he that is not against us is for us” (Luke 9.50)? This, surely, is the path that followers of both our two great religions must walk. UNFORTUNATELY, those who wish us all to walk apart have recently found another focus for their efforts: the tragic clashes between nomadic herdsmen and settled farmers in the central regions of Nigeria. For generations, herders have driven their cattle from the north to the centre of our country; they tend to be predominantly Muslim, although not exclusively. The farmers, in certain areas of central Nigeria, are predominantly Christian. The causes of this conflict are not religious or theological, but temporal. At the heart of this discord is access to rural land, exacerbated both by climate change and population growth.Sadly, there are some who seek to play fast and loose and so make others believe that these are not the facts. When religion is claimed as the cause — and by those who know that it is not — it only makes finding a resolution more difficult. The government has taken action to mediate, to bring the two groups together in peace and unity. But we also need all parties to follow the teachings of the scriptures, and encourage reconciliation rather than cause division. As it is said: “Having eyes do you not see, and having ears do you not hear?” (Mark 8.18).As our constitution codifies, politicising religion has no place in Nigeria; for it makes us turn away from one another; it makes us retreat into our communities and walk different paths.I believe that there is a better way. To those who seek to divide, I still hold my hand out in brotherhood and forgiveness. I ask only that they stop, and instead encourage us to turn towards one another in love and compassion. Nigeria belongs to all of us. This is what I believe.
