German woman married to a Nigerian man narrates her experience visiting Nigeria with her kids for the Christmas holiday

A German woman married to a Nigerian man has shared her experience in Nigeria and how she's raising her 3 kids to have a sense of belonging and understand their Nigerian roots.Nicole Chilaka-Ukpo recently returned with her husband from Germany to the Eastern part of Nigeria for the Christmas holiday. They returned with their kids - 2 boys and a girl.Nicole took to Facebook to narrate what it's been like for her and her kids in Imo state, Nigeria.  She also revealed how she's ensuring that her kids get the full Nigerian experience while they are here. She added that she feels at home here in Nigeria and always looks forward to visiting.  The 28-year-old wrote:let me tell you what really matters.reality!when coming home, we make sure we expose our kids to 100% reality in nigeria. not only bringing them here, hotel nye nye, city nye nye, 24/7 gen nye nye. nowe make sure we spend as much time as possible in the east, village self!  we take them to the local market, we eat local food, we make use of public transportation and drink pure water once in a while. we make sure they see and know how an animal is killed, because knowing where your food comes from helps understanding the value of natural resources. we stay without light if there is none, we use firewood to cook at times, we leave them to run around the compound, get dirty and sandy, and just enjoy their environment. they are free here. bonding is so so important, most especially when the kids grow. every time they come back here they bond with their people again, it may take a year, but once we all reunite its like we have never been gone. when we are all together we share responsibilities, and the care for the kids, it doesnt matter if they are my kids or my nephews and nieces, if we are together we are all one. so we all share the chores.  unity and solidarity is what i experience here!FAMILY is what i have here.iam home in a foreign place

The quiet expansion of GAC Motor within the Nigerian Automobile Industry - Edo state government donates 50 vehicles to the Nigerian Police force

to the Nigerian Police orce The past few months have seen the extraordinary and remarkable growth of the GAC Motor brand within the Nigerian Automobile industry. Barely 2 months after the Dangote Foundation donated 150 cars to the Nigerian Police Force, the Edo State Government follows suit, donating 50 units of the GA3S vehicles to the Nigerian Police Force.  GAC vehicles are the preferred brand for the security forces in China and are slowly expanding their footprint to other security parastatals around the globe, this choice by both Dangote and the Edo State Government attests to the quality and sturdiness of the GAC brand. This is further recognition of GAC Motor's growth across Nigeria, and affirmation of the excellent quality and high safety standards of its vehicles.    The handover took place during the launch of the Edo State Security Trust Fund, the Governor announced that the donation is a reaffirmation of the Edo State Government’s promise to fight insecurity in the state, using the vehicles as intended support for the Police Force in surveillance, crime prevention and promoting law and order. It was also announced that 2 billion has been set aside for the Edo State Security Trust Fund in the 2019 budget and over 1000 men are in training to drive this new security architecture. The Governor requests for the support of all to ensure the success of these initiatives. "At GAC, we understand that the intelligence and professionalism of the man behind the uniform and the engineering excellence of the machine he drives unleash the ultimate law enforcement hardware. Therefore, we take extra care in making sure our cars meet world class standards.” Said Chief Diana Chen, Chairman of CIG Motors, the sole distributors of GAC Motors in Nigeria. “We remain steadfast in our vision and commitment to providing the best driving experience for all.” The ceremony is being attended by distinguished guests including The Edo State Governor, Godwin Nogheghase Obaseki, Deputy Governor Rt. Security men, workers block National Assembly gate

Security operatives and workers of the National Assembly have barricaded all the entrances to the Assembly complex as the workers continue their four-day warning strike. Workers of the National Assembly under the umbrella body of PASAN began their warning strike on Monday December 17th to protest what they called poor working conditions. The workers barricaded the Assembly gates, preventing any lawmaker from gaining access into the complex.  A statement by the Clerk to the National Assembly Mohammed Sani-Omolori on Tuesday morning said the leadership of the National Assembly has directed the Police and the Department of State Services (DSS) to ensure adequate security within the vicinity of the National Assembly from Tuesday morning to enable members and staff come in and perform their legitimate duties without any hinderance. The directive was passed after a meeting of the joint leadership of the two chambers with the management and representatives of the security agencies.“The leadership of the National Assembly called the meeting because they know that almost all the issues raised by the striking workers were being addressed by the management. It was unanimously agreed that the management had made sufficient plans and efforts to address all the grievances of the workers and ensure their happiness.“We were sure that the issues raised by the workers have been well attended to and that it is necessary for the business of the National Assembly to continue without any disturbance. Both chambers must hold their normal plenary tomorrow morning to prepare the ground for the visit of President Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday, December 19, 2018 to present the budget proposal to the joint sitting of the Senate and the House of Representatives.“We have therefore mandated the security agencies to perform their duty of maintaining law and order in the National Assembly Complex and its surrounding. They must enforce the laws which allow the striking workers to down tools if they choose to and also the ones which restrain them from disturbing those who choose to work or stop parliamentarians from entering the chambers or their offices to do the work for which they were elected.“Senators and members of the House of Representatives, their aides, other workers and people who have legitimate business within the National Assembly Complex are therefore advised to come in as they will be free to operate without any hinderance and molestation.“If President Buhari is unable to present the budget proposal on Wednesday as scheduled Nigerians, should hold the security agencies responsible for failing in the performance of their duties”, the leadership of the federal legislatur

12-year old boy accidentally kills his 6-year old sister while their parents were at a Christmas party in U.S.A 6-year-old girl, Maliyah Palmer has died after she was accidentally shot in the head by her 12-year-old brother.   Reports say that the parents were attending a Christmas party when the incident occurred. The two were reportedly being watched by their 16-year-old brother before Florissant police responded to the shooting at 11 p.m. The 12-year-old reportedly found the 9mm pistol inside a dresser in his parent’s bedroom and fired the gun.  “All of the officers who responded to the scene are mothers and fathers, so you can only imagine how personal it is to see a child shot in the back of the head. We will have counselors here for a debriefing hopefully this week to make sure the mental state of our officers is OK,” Timothy Lowery, the police chief said.   Authorities called the shooting a tragic accident and, according to The Post-Dispatch, will investigate and turn in evidence to prosecutors.  Authorities said earlier that no charges would be filed. The paper pointed out that parents have been charged in similar cases in the past.   “You couldn’t have written a more tragic script, the whole thing is just so tragic and terrible, but we have to put our personal feelings aside and do the law enforcement side of this,” Lowery said,
