Burning Of US And Israel Flags By Nigeria Entity Is A Clampdown To International Peace - Activist Writes
PERSISTENT BURNING OF US AND ISRAELITES FLAGS IN NIGERIA, DISRESPECT FOR SOVEREIGNTY OF NATIONS
The persistent defiance of the Nigerian government to accord respect to the sovereignty of the United States of America and Israel, calls for concern. State-sponsored instigations for the burning of the flags of these two nations call for stern and commensurate American government's foreign policy response to the rascality of Nigeria. The overt and covert actions of supervision of brazenly setting ablaze the national flags of these nations by the Islamic government of Nigeria, tantamount to mockery and arrant disdain against International laws protecting the sovereignty of nations. Nigeria as a country, enjoys diplomatic relations with these affected nations but it is disheartening to state here that the United States of America as a country and her government have consistently come under vicious attacks since President Donald Trump assumed leadership against the wish for Hillary Clinton with whom the Nigerian government had enjoyed some measures of Islamic goodwill for the American nation.
On the 20th of January 2017, that very eventful day that ushered in the inauguration of Mr. Donald Trump as the 45th President of the United States of America, the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), from within Biafraland, massively converged in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, to show solidarity. This is in line in keeping with the identification of the civilised democracies anywhere in the world. The solidarity rally was to drum up support for the incoming administration of President Trump particularly and to also celebrate a successful transition of governments between the two personalities. Prior to the scheduled date of the peaceful rally, the leadership of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) worldwide, duly notified the occupational government of Nigeria through a written document dated 18th January 2017. But with his disdain for President Donald Trump and all that he stands for, President Muhammadu Buhari ordered the Nigerian armed forces to repressively clampdown on the Biafran people even as the rally peacefully progressed with massive turn out of participants. A detachment of battle-ready army and police officers invaded the arena with lethal weapons beating, arresting, maiming, injuring and killing hundreds of people including men, women and youths, out of whom many are still being held extra-judicially in prison custody at Elele Prisons, Rivers State, till date. These same security operatives were on Friday 8th of June 2018, spotted shamelessly providing maximum protection to the violent Islamic protesters in Abuja. They were there supervising the bizarre burning of the US and Israeli flags that were hoisted in salient locations in Abuja, Nigeria's capital city.
Prudent assessment of this constant instigation of the armed forces or criminals sponsored by the Nigerian government through the protesters to set ablaze, US, Israeli and Russian flags, it therefore simply means that Nigeria should be stripped of whatever beneficial covering derivable from International laws as a country. If the Nigerian government blatantly fails to respect the National Symbol of the United States of America, Russia and Israel, to the extent of constantly supervising the destruction of these diplomatic symbols, then it becomes necessary that the governments of these nations terminate forthwith whatsoever business relationship they have with Nigeria. This action they have to take by recognizing the sovereignty of Biafra as a nation to justifiably retaliate the excesses of Islamic Nigeria.

35 containers of restricted tramadol seized across ports – NAFDAC
Efforts by the Federal Government to end drug abuse by youths has yielded fruit as the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), has seized 35 containers of restricted tramadolat various ports in the country. The Director General of the agency, Moji Adeyeye disclosed this while speaking withthe News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja on Sunday. She said nine out of the seized containers of tramadol were released to NAFDAC by the Nigeria Custom Service (NCS), and hadbeen destroyed by the agency.“We are seriously working with the custom on this; and each time they seize any container, they usually invite us to come and see the containers with tramadol.“So far, 35 containers were seized and onlynine of them have been handed over to NAFDAC which we have destroyed,” she said. She, however, decried the delay by the custom in handing over the rest of the containers to her agency. The NAFDAC boss stated that tramadol was a restricted drug but had been abused by Nigerian youths who use it without prescription.According to Ms Adeyeye, who is also a professor of pharmacology, the drug destroys children’s brain; thereby threatening the future generation of the nation. She lauded the present administration for placing an embargo on codeine, which she said, like tramadol, should only be given only by prescription as done in advanced country.NAN reports that the director general said the agency was more determined and committed than ever to stem the menace of illicit and fake drugs in the country.Recall that the Federal Government recently banned the local production and importation of codeine as addictive cough syrup, which is consistently abused.Stakeholders in the health sector have strongly condemned the activities of drug traffickers in view of their negative consequences of destroying the future of Nigerian youths, who are the leaders of tomorrow.
NAFDAC demands relief for local pharmaceutical coys
National Agency for Foods, Drugs Administration and Control, NAFDAC, is currently working with the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment on the issueof tax relief for local pharmaceutical companies, and they are optimistic that a smooth deal would emerge.Speaking yesterday in Abuja, Director-General of NAFDAC, Prof Moji Adeyeye, elucidated that such relief would attract more investors into the pharmaceutical companies in the country.“About 80 per cent of materials currently use in the production of drugs are imported while only 20 per cent is sourced locally,” she said. The director-general said that the development was unacceptable and her agency would do everything possible to change the trend. She pledged to reverse the situation whereby 80 per cent of what is needed for production of drugs is sourced within the country and only 20 per cent will be imported.“In doing this, it will also help us in achieving ease of doing business, one of the policies of the present administration toboost investment,’’ she said. Meanwhile, Adeyeye has also announced plans to get enhanced salary structure for the staff of the agency to motivate them and boost the fight against illicit drugs. She noted that NAFDAC staffs are working hard to save the lives of Nigerians, though they are not well paid.Adeyeye however disparaged the situation where staff of the agency could not afford house rent in Abuja and Lagos, describing such as unacceptable to her and the agency.“Though, the last strike by members of the agency was in solidarity with JOHESU and we use the opportunity to meet with the union to address the issues on welfare.“Anda lot has been achieved with the union, we have our plans, very soon we will get a new staff good salary structure,’’ she said.

Atiku Abubakar's former aide threatens to sue President Buhari if GCFR title is conferred on MKO
“Pursuant to the powers of the Council of State in section 6(a)(iii) of Part 1 to the Third Schedule of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 (as amended) to advise the president on the matter of awarding National Honours, I call on President Mohammadu Buhari to immediately convene a meeting of the National Council of State to deliberate and advise him on his decision to award National Honours to the Late Chief MKO Abiola, Ambassador Babagana Kingibe and Chief Gani Fawehinmi before performing the planned investiture ceremony on Tuesday, this is simply to comply with due process of law.
“Driven by the need to determine whether in the president’s decision to confer the said national awards constitutional due process of law had been followed, I telephoned and asked a former President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and a serving Member of the Council whether to the best of his knowledge the issue had at any time been raised in any of the meetings of the Council of State and the advice of the said Council sought and obtained, he informed me and I verily believe him that it was never ever raised nor the advice of the Council ever sought or obtained.
“Therefore to go ahead and perform the investiture ceremony as planned is to indulge in flagrant illegality.”
He former adviser argued that: “Having campaigned on, sworn-in and is on oath to govern this country in accordance with the provisions of the constitution and due process of law and to defend and protect the said constitution, the president cannot confer national awards on the Late Chief MKO Abiola, Ambassador Babagana Kingibe and Chief Gani Fawehinmi or anyone else without subjecting his decision to the advice of the Council of State as stipulated in the constitution.
“To do so is a breach not only of the constitution but also of the oath sworn to by the president and that is unacceptable.”
“Consequently, in pursuit of my civil right and obligation as a citizen that I am governed by the provisions of the Constitution, I will institute a court action demanding compliance with the provisions of the constitution in the award of the said National Honours if the government goes ahead with the investiture ceremony without abiding by the due process of law.”
Umar Ardo explained that: “It is important, however, to state here that I have absolutely no objection to the president conferring such national honours to Late Chief MKO Abiola and Chief Gani Fawehinmi, and, indeed, that they richly deserve such awards and much more, but it is only right to do the right thing rightly.
“My current call and possible court action is solely motivated by the obligation to enforce the rule of law and constitutionalism in the process of governing this country.”

May 29 Remains Inauguration Day For Presidents” – Senate
The Nigerian Senate on Thursday resolved to take President Muhammadu Buhari’s declarationa step further by asking that the official result of the June 12,1993 presidential election be announced. On Thursday, the Senate while largely supportingthe president’s announcement, however, insistedMay 29 will continue to be the hand-over date forpresidents of Nigeria. The lawmakers after a lengthy deliberation on the president’s announcement agreed that an alteration of the handover date will require a constitutional amendment.Since 1999 when the country returned to civil rule, Nigeria has celebrated May 29 as Democracy Day. The date, after every four years, also doubles as the day for the inauguration of newly elected presidents and many state governors.First to raise the issue on Thursday was Lanre Tejuosho (Ogun-APC) who commended Mr Buhari for the announcements while urging him to also reconcile with the Legislature.Having come under order 43 of the Senate standing order, the matter was not open for discussion.“For once, I want to thank the President of Nigeria. I want to say he has done well. This is one time that the President has given a thought to what (Moshood) Abiola and his family went through to fight for this democracy that we enjoytoday.“Going further, there are issues to be addressed so that we can be confident that this is not a Greek gift.”Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu, said the gesture comes with legal issues which the president must address.“They are now saying June 12 is now DemocracyDay, proposing that in 2019, the president will now be sworn in on the 12th of June. This is illegally impossible.“A president shall vacate his office at the expiration of a period of four years he took the oath of office.“The implication is that 29th of May remains the date the president will be inaugurated and take oath of office. If they are moving from May 29 to June 12, it means we have to amend this constitution.“Otherwise, we will be extending tenure of a president beyond what the constitution contemplates. We have to advise the president properly so that we won’t enter a jam next year. We cannot extend it to June 12 without extending the Constitution.”

According to the transcript of the interview made available to journalists on Saturday, the Vice President said,“I think that for anyone who is in office, it (four years) would be too small because obviously, you have all manner of plans and things to deliver. But my take is that the moment you have theright people and you put the right structures in place, you can do a lot, and I think we have been blessed with an incredibly good team,”He said the present administration wanted to farther ahead in terms of manufacturing. He however described them as infrastructure constraints that cannot be developed overnight. This, he said, was why the government was investing heavily in infrastructure; rail, road and power.“This is the significant part of the investment that we are doing; concessioning the Lagos-Kano to General Electric, the narrow gauge, developing the standard gauge is important in terms of just movementof goods and all that. A lot of these initiatives would be a great help in moving goods,” he added.
