Kim, US President commit to restart repatriating remains from North Korea

When President Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un signed a statement Tuesday committing to establishing new, peaceful relations, they also agreed to resolve an issue as old as the Korean conflict itself.

Trump and Kim said they "commit to recovering" the remains of US service members killed in the war of 1950-1953, "including the immediate repatriation of those already identified."

The issue's inclusion at the summit reflects the efforts of fierce lobbying by veterans groups in America, including Veterans of Foreign Wars, which wrote to Trump last week asking him to discuss the matter with Kim.

"As the leader of the free world, we urge you to do everything in your power to ensure that those who paid the ultimate price for freedom during the Korean War are finally returned home," VFW head Keith Harman wrote.

More than 35,000 Americans were killed on the Korean peninsula during the war, with 7,700 of these US troops still listed as missing in action -- most of them in North Korea.

According to VFW, an agreement between the US and North Korea spanning 1990 to 2005 saw the return of 229 sets of remains, with many more identified.

But the program was suspended as political conditions deteriorated between the two countries.

After the summit, Trump said the process of repatriating remains would begin immediately.

"So many people have talked to me about it," Trump told reporters.

"I brought it up at the very end. And (Kim) was really very gracious. Instead of saying, 'Well, let's talk about it the next time,' he said, 'It makes sense. We will do it.'"

In a statement, Harman said he "salutes" Trump for bringing the issue to the table, and thanked Kim.

"We must have hope that this agreement will finally bring peace to the peninsula and help bring closure to thousands of families of missing American servicemen from the Korean War," Harman said.

"Now the hard work to bring the initiative to fruition begins."

Secondus reveals FG, EFCC ‘plot’ against PDP states

The National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Prince Uche Secondus has berated the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, for their alleged bias in the execution of the anti-corruption war in the country.

Secondus said that the recent arrest and harassment of contractors handling projects in only PDP states had exposed the anti graft agency as doing the bidding of the ruling party ahead of 2019.

The PDP leader in a statement by his spokesman, Ike Abonyi, said that the EFCC had deployed its operatives to intimidate and harass contractors handling various projects in some PDP states with the motive of frustrating their project goals which had visibly placed them far ahead of their colleagues in APC states.

Secondus expressed regrets that the Commission “has remained beclouded in their bias and has refused to heed the advisories from well meaning Nigerians and international watchers including the recent one from the British High Commissioner to Nigeria Mr. Paul Arkwright for them not to take sides with any political party ahead of the 2019 general election.”

He noted that the Commission rather than listen to such counsel, had instead made themselves a willing tool to assist the drowning APC ahead of 2019 general elections.

“Rather than encourage states who are seriously involved in the delivery of democracy dividend to their people, the envious ruling APC has been conniving with the relevant agencies to be harassing contractors ostensibly to frustrate and slow them down in their development strides.

“Contractors in Taraba and Rivers states as well as other PDP states are being harassed by EFCC operatives and are being arm twisted to implicate PDp leaders.

“Intelligence is available to the party that the ruling party and the federal government have resolved to ensure that PDP states are permanently put on their toes so as not to get their bearing ahead of 2019.

“It would be clear to the world and discerning minds that PDP governors are doing fantastic jobs executing projects that touch the lives of their people unlike their APC counterparts.

“In some states like Taraba where projects have been halted as a result of EFCC meddlesomeness, the unemployment situation has worsened,” he said.

Secondus reiterated the position of the PDP that “corruption should be confronted frontally in our system but warned that meaningful result would never be achieved in this regard in an atmosphere of bias and double standards from anti corruption agencies.”

He charged PDP state governors to remain undaunted and refuse to be intimidated in the service of their people

Court orders Kogi senator to vacate National Assembly

The Senator representing Kogi east, Atai Aidoko, has been ordered to vacate the National Assembly.

A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja on Wednesday, June 13, 2018, ruled that the primary election of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) which Aidoko supposedly won was illegal.

The presiding judge, Gabriel Kolawole said the senator was wrongly presented as the PDP flagbearer during the election.

Rightful winner

The judgement is as a result of an application filed by another contestant, Air Vice Marshal Isaac Alfa, seeking the court to nullify Aidoko's election.

The judge held that Alfa is the rightful winner the primary election conducted in Idah, on December 7, 2015.

Justice Kolawole also ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to withdraw the Certificate of Return issued to Aidoko.

The Clerk of the National Assembly was also ordered to swear in Alfa to replace the sacked lawmaker.

MKO Abiola: What Abacha did to us after June 12 annulment – Ex-lawmaker, Nze Esiaga

A former member of the Federal House of Representatives, and a victim of the June 12 annulment, Hon. Nze Esiaga has revealed what the military government did during the June 12 presidential election annulment saga.

Esiaga explained that shortly after the annulment of the presidential election which was adjudged as free, fair and transparent, the then Head of State, Late General Sani Abacha dismantled all democratic structures in the country.

He disclosed that the National Assembly was the first to be sent packing by the Abacha-led military government during the crisis arising from annulment.

Esiaga, who is a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress in Abia state, stated this in a chat with DAILY POST on Tuesday.

He commended President Muhammadu Buhari for taking courageous steps to honour the acclaimed winner of the June 12 election, Chief Moshood Abiola, and described those criticizing the President over his declaration of June 12 as democracy day, as enemies of Nigeria’s democracy.

According to the former federal lawmaker, “What President Muhammadu Buhari has done by declaring June 12 as democracy day and saying that a man whose blood was used to water democracy in this country should be recognized, is commendable”.

“It is commendable in the sense that June 12 , unknown to many people was the day God in his infinite mercy, came down to Nigeria and took care of all our differences.

“That was the same day, in the middle of raining season, there was no drop of rain anywhere in the country”.

“SDP and NRC accepted the results in good faith. The election was free and fair. So, for Mr. President to say, that injustice should be corrected, he should be commended.

He added that,”I was one of the victims of the June 12 annulment. I was a member of the House of Representative in the third republic.

“What actually happened on June 12 was very surprising. I was elected in 1992. I was in the National Assembly when Chief M.K.O Abiola contested. I was already in the House.

“The annulment really affected us. We (National Assembly) were the first people, Late General Sani Abacha sent packing the very day he made that broadcast.

“He dissolved the National Assembly. Of course, Abacha demolished all democratic structures in the country.”

I won 2015 election – Ohakim tells Okorocha

The former governor of Imo state, Ikedi Ohakim has described Governor Rochas Okorocha as a ‘liar’, while revealing why he lost the 2015 governorship election in the state.
The former governor, who was reacting to Okorocha’s claim that Imo people hated him and kicked him (Ohakim) out of office, said the governor had lost credibility.
Okorocha had also claimed yesterday that Ohakim ran the worst government in the state right from the military regime.
But Ohakim, reacting through his Chief Press Secretary, Collins Ughalla, said Okorocha does not like the truth, adding that Imo people like him so much.
According to him, “Okorocha does not like the truth. Going by the 2011 governorship election, Imo people loved Ohakim, so much. They voted for him [Ohakim] and he won that election.
“Don’t forget that the election was militarized. It also witnessed the kidnapping of the returning officer from Ohaji/Egbema local government, which had 34,000 votes.
“Don’t forget Ohaji/Egbema, remains a PDP stronghold and the votes were Ohakim’s votes. The votes from Oguta LGA, remains inconclusive.
“They did not allow it to be counted. If you put all these together, you will find out that Imo people did not reject Ohakim. Today, Imo people now know that Ohakim is a saint compared to Okorocha.”

Buhari is laying foundation now, will complete building Nigeria from 2019 - Tony Momoh

Tony Momoh says President Buhari will complete the foundation he has started in the last three years

Momoh says impatience is making some Nigerians criticise the government of Buhari

The former information minister adds that Buhari's background speaks volume about his love for Nigeria

A former information minister and chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prince Tony Momoh has insisted that President Muhammadu Buhari is laying the foundation for a prosperous Nigeria and will complete it during his second term in office.

Momoh as appealing to Nigerians to ensure Buhari is re-elected in 2019 said he is sure the president will win the election with more massive votes than many people can think of.

The report said Momoh said only impatient Nigerians have continued to criticise the president, adding that Buhari was well prepared for the presidency owing to the experienced he has garnered over the years.

“Buhari is laying a foundation and I plead with Nigerians to ensure that he returns and I believe he will return with more massive votes than anyone can think of now. If he returns, he is going to finish the foundation he is laying now.

“Nigeria has a future and a mission and the foundation is being laid now and Buhari is prepared for it. Look at his background.

"He is the only person who in Nigeria said he wants to be president and he didn’t ask for any other job and he became president.

“Do you think all these preparations in 2003, 2007, 2011 and now is nothing? Even before the Civil War, in 1966 he has been in public life, lived everywhere and train everywhere in Nigeria. Do you think he will go to that office with empty head?

“It is people who are impatient that are criticising him. Everything is structured. Of course, there are lots of people around him who will normally try to mislead him but he doesn’t take action on anything until he is convinced about it,” he said.

INEC suspends CVR in 2 LGA’s in Kogi, following outbreak of violence

INEC has suspend ongoing Continuous Voter Registration in some communities in two LGA’s in Kogi state after violence broke out in the areas

Officials will go back and capture the particulars of eligible voters and replace lost voter cards when normalcy is restored to the areas

AS 2019 approaches, the Commission has also disclosed that it is making arrangements to take issuance of PVC’s closer to the people

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) says it has suspended the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) in some communities in Bassa and Dekina local government areas of Kogi.

The state’s resident electoral commissioner, Prof James Apam, who announced this during a press conference in Lokoja on Wednesday, June 13, blamed the development on persistent violent clashes within the affected communities.

Apam also disclosed that the Commission has had cause to suspend the exercise in Omala local government sometime this year, for similar reason

He said that the communities where the exercise was being put on hold were unsafe for INEC staff to work there.

“We believe that the security agencies and traditional rulers are aware of these security breaches and are taking steps to bring them to an end,” Apam said.

According to him, a quick return of normalcy to the communities will enable INEC officials to go and capture the particulars of eligible voters and replace lost voter cards.

The commissioner, however, said that 245,195 new voters have been registered in the state since the commencement of CVR in April last year.

Apam said that the new registrants were made up of 123,877 males and 121,318 females; while the commission had also treated 9,774 applications for transfer and 12,123 cases of damaged or defaced Permanent Voter cards.

The REC further explained that 59,078 voter cards had been issued to those who registered before the 2015 general elections, adding that 200,429 cards were still lying uncollected.

He said that the office had also taken delivery of newly printed 112 ,333 Permanent Voter Cards as well as cards for those who had newly registered and those who applied for inter-state transfer of their cards from April to December 2017.

Apam regretted that only 7,943 of the newly printed 112,333 voter cards had been collected as at Tuesday, June 12, appealing to traditional rulers, press and registered political parties to assist in mobilising Nigerians to collect their cards.

He also said that the INEC was making arrangements to take issuance of PVCs closer to the people.

Independent National Electoral Commission said that it was still in possession of 7,920,129 Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) yet to be collected from its offices across the nation.

The Commission disclosed this in a tabular data on consolidated PVCs released in Abuja, the nation’s capital.

Former APC chieftain advises Ortom to re-contest under another party to win re-election

A house of representatives aspirant, John Akperashi, has advised the governor of Benue state, Samuel Ortom, to leave the All Progressives Congress

He said that the governor should defect from the party if he wants to win re-election

Akperashi claims that Ortom is no longer comfortable in the ruling party

Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue state has been advised by a former chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state, John Akperashi to defect to another party to actualise his second term aspiration.

Akperashi, the house of representative aspirant, made the advise on Wednesday, June 13 when he spoke with journalists in Makurdi, saying that the governor would lose woefully if he contests under the umbrella of APC.

Akperashi said: “To an average Benue person, the APC is seen as Miyetti Allah party that has preference for cows over human beings.

“I know very well that Gov Ortom is not comfortable in the APC. If he is pretending then that is his own problem. It is either he is just playing along or playing to the gallery. He is just buying time to take his decision and at the appropriate time, he will just leave.

”But he has the resources so he can do whatever he likes at any time but some of us are still growing. If what is obtainable in the APC I do not see him winning elections.

“Yes, he has done his best and I give him kudos for that. I have said it often that put Suswam and Ortom, he has done well more than the former in terms of protecting the lives of his people and fighting herdsmen because of the law he collaborated with Benue people to sign.”

Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue state had been endorsed by the state chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the sole candidate of the party in the coming 2019 general elections.

Ortom’s endorsement was made on Saturday, May 19, by delegates of the APC at the Benue state congress.

Choose between MKO Abiola , Abacha, stop confusing us – Soyinka confronts Buha

Nobel laureate, Wole Soyinka has called on president Muhammadu Buhari to take a stand between late MKO Abiola and former military president, Sani Abacha.

Soyinka, speaking on Tuesday during the Special National Honours Investiture at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, urged Buhari to stop confusing Nigerians and take a stand.

He was one of the speakers at the occasion where MKO Abiola, the adjudged winner of the June 12, 1993 presidential election and others were honoured.

Soyinka said, “As we inaugurate hall of fame, we should inaugurate hall of shame on another hand.

”Hall of Shame should be in line with Hall of Honours. Many unsung heroes and heroines. The torture, dehumanizing of Nigerians were horrendous.

“I will like to appeal to you to stop confusing Nigerians. It is not possible to honor MKO Abiola in one breadth and praise his tormentor in another breadth.”

MKO Abiola: Shehu Sani lists other names Buhari should apologize to

Shehu Sani, Senator representing Kaduna Central, on Thursday called on President Muhammadu Buhari to apologize to the family of late President, Musa Yar’Adua.

The All Progressives Congress, APC, chieftain also urged Buhari to also apologize to the families of late activists, Ken Saro Wiwa, Beko Kuti and Chima Ubani.

In a tweet, the lawmaker further admonished the President to equally honour other activists.

According to Sani, “There’s need for the FG to tender an unreserved apology to the families of Ken Saror Wiwa and his Ogoni Kinsmen and honour the 9 and the 4 Ogonis with national honours. Same should be done to late Shehu Musa Yar’adua. Dr Beko Kuti and Chima Ubani must also not be forgotten.”

Recall that Buhari had on Tuesday apologized to the family of the presumed winner of the June 12, 1993, presidential election, Moshood Kashimawo Olawale Abiola.

Kaduna Polls: PDP speaks on KADSIECOM’s ‘double standard’

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Kaduna State chapter, has condemned in strong terms what it called the double standard being demonstrated by the Kaduna State Independent Electoral Commission, KADSIECOM, in the conduct of the local government election in the state.

“In the whole, we condemned in strong terms, the double standard being demonstrated by the SIECOM, that is supposed to be an unbiased umpire,” Abraham Alberah Catoh, PDP state publicity secretary said in a statement.

The party said, “We expect that by now the culprits that were involved in the elections aberration that took place in Chikun local government would have been arrested by security agents at the instance of the SIECOM.

“The position of SIECOM that it did not disclose the identities of Returning Officers in order to forestall what happened in the past untenable. This is because SIECOM did not disclose the identities of such ROs even in the 12th May, 2018 elections to the public but only to APC/ Government officials.

“Therefore, it was SIECOM’s refusal ,even on our request to reveal the identities of the ROs that created mistrust in the electorates in both Kaura Local Government and other places.

“In Jaba local government, results were duly announced and declared by the SIECOM staff sent by the Commission, but for SIECOM to say they have two(2) results at hand means that they have sent two Returning Officers as against the provision Section 23 of the law governing the elections. SIECOM should come out and explain the sources of the second results and the authority behind such results.

“In the re-run in Kaduna South local government, it is laughable to announce that in the two(2) remaining wards of Sabon Gari North, APC scored 16,579 votes, PDP scored 1,985 votes and Sabon Gari South, APC scored 17,409 votes while PDP scored 1,731 votes, in total, APC polled 37,968 votes as against PDP’s 3,677 votes in the two Wards.

“The public is hereby to take note that in the 11 Wards declared by SIECOM in the 12th May elections APC got a total of 12,434 votes as against PDP’s 19,748 votes; for the results of 1 Ward now to be more than the results of 11 Wards garnered in the first round of elections, calls for questioning.

“As a party that believes in the rule of law, PDP would challenge all acts not in line with the electoral laws at the Tribunal.”

The party explained that it thought that SIECOM have learned a lesson in the 12th May, 2018 elections before embarking on the 6th June elections.

“The conduct of the 6th June election shows that no lesson was learned,” the party lamented.

The party expressed delight with the support and peaceful conduct of her members in particular, and the people of Kaduna State in the last two elections.

“We call on them to continue to maintain such noble posture as the party is doing everything legally possible to retrieve and defend the mandate given to the party by the good people of Kaduna State, it noted.

Why Buhari should sack Service Chiefs, INEC boss – Southern, Middle Belt leaders

The Southern and Middle Belt Leaders’ Forum, SMBLF, has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to sack the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Prof. Mahmoud Yakubu and the Service Chiefs.

The Joint Secretary of the forum, Mr. Yinka Odumakin, spoke in a chat with Punch.

The forum said there were indications that Yakubu might rig the 2019 presidential election in favour of Buhari, insisting that the four geopolitical zones that constituted SMBLF had no confidence in Yakubu.

Speaking ahead of the group’s next gathering, Odumakin said, “The meeting is a continuation of our normal consultations on the issue of restructuring to have a just and fair Nigeria. Those issues continue to dominate our agenda.

“We have put our demand for removal of the INEC Chairman and the service chiefs as a cardinal issue. We are not going to back down on them. We would continue to press on them. They would form part of the issues for discussion on Friday.”

Odumakin insisted that the next general polls may not be free and fair, pointing out that 15 out of the 17 security chiefs were from the northern region.

He said, “The impediments (to the 2019 elections) are so many. The major impediment is the security architecture in the country, the way the President has organised the security architecture, having 15 out of 17 service chiefs from his region.

“The tenure of the service chiefs has expired, but he kept them. This is geared towards the 2019 elections. Again, the composition of INEC does not give us confidence about the elections.

“The former acting Chairman of INEC, Amina Zakari, appointed by President Buhari happened to be his relation. Our information indicated that Zakari is more powerful than the INEC chairman. The nepotism that had crept into INEC does not give us confidence that there would be free and fair elections.

“We also learnt a lot of foreigners had been brought in from Niger Republic to register so that they can vote in 2019 and INEC has not responded to this.

“Underage voters were registered in Kano and they voted and INEC set up a committee to look into it, but up till now, it has refused to release the report, why? These are some of our fears for the election in 2019 and if they are not addressed, it is going be so turbulent”.

SEE HOW A PASTOR MAKES HIS CHURCH MEMBERS S UCK HIS P.ENIS IN CHURCH, SAYS HIS S.PERM IS HOLY MILK

An evangelical pastor arrested for raping his faithful, after convincing them that his penis contained “sacred milk”
Sobrino Valdeci Picanto, an evangelical pastor from Brazil, persuaded his followers that he practiced oral sex because it was the way he preached the word, saying that his ‘milk’ was sacred.
And this pastor said his penis was blessed and that “the Lord had consecrated with divine milk of the Holy Spirit” and of course, had to go around evangelizing.

“He convinced us that only God could come into our lives through the mouth”, a follower said, “Often, after worship, Pastor Valdeci asked us to do or.al se.x on him until the Holy Spirit came through ejaculation and delivered funds to the church.”

Sobrino Valdeci Picanto, 59, was arrested in Apore, Goiás, Brazil, for ra.ping several women attending his church. He gave as an excuse that his pen’is had been consecrated with “divine semen of the Holy Spirit.”

Valdecir came to abuse some elderly, and defends himself by saying that ‘he had an encounter with Jesus in a brothel and gave him the mission of spreading the sacred semen throughout the state, beginning with the faithful Apore Assembly, of which he is responsible’.

Denise Pinheiro, delegate of the region, said, “Valdecir was caught red-handed while rubbing his pen’is in the face of a local merchant, which promised to make more sales in her business due to the divine liquid.
When we acted Valdecir offered no resistance and even asked if I wanted to be part of the kingdom of heaven on the way to the police station.
