2019: 'I amcommitted to granting increased internet access to the poorest in the society' - President BuhariPresident Buhari has said his administration is committed to granting increased internet access to the poorest in the society.   The information is contained in the Next Level Campaign Guide for 2019. According to the guide, the efforts of government in the past few years enabled internet access and promoted local content, especially among Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) of government.   It stated that “following the Vice President’s visit to Silicon Valley, U.S., where he visited the headquarters of some leading global technology companies, he met Google officials. He met with Google Chief Executive Officer, Sundar Pichai, and its top executives in July and the global tech company now provides free Wi-fi access in several public places in Nigeria. This initiative will bridge societal gaps by providing free internet access to some of the poorest in the society. It will grant access to information, tools of education, improved business and job opportunities and expansion for many Nigerians.”  It further said that the free internet access was in line with the administration’s plan to improve the country’s technology sector and leverage on the gains that a data-driven digital economy could offer.  It added that Information Communication Technology (ICT) was the new oil, adding that oil revenues were no longer sustainable. The post 2019: 'I amcommitted to granting increased internet access to the poorest in the society' - President Buhari

Obese boy who went viral due to a rare condition that makes him eat all the time dies at 11

A young obese boy made international headlines some months ago after it was revealed that he has a rare condition that makes him hungry all the time and when there's no food, he eats anything available, even tissue paper. It has now been revealed that he has passed away at the age of 11. Caden Benjamin, from South Africa, suffered from Prader-Willi syndrome which is characterised by an obsessive compulsion to eat. As a result, he weighed 90 kilogrammes at the age of 10. His condition meant his brain could not register that his body did not need to eat anymore after he was done eating, meaning the youngster never felt full. Sometimes he ate toilet paper and even dirt when he couldn't get food.   Sadly, he died on November 15 at the Steve Biko Hospital in the city of Pretoria in South Africa’s Gauteng Province.Caden's obesity led to serious problems with his breathing. He also had to undergo a tracheotomy a while back and had to breath through a tube inserted into his windpipe. The condition also meant he had an enlarged heart, diabetes and depression. His mother Zola Benjamin is reportedly devastated at losing her only child. The post Obese boy who went viral due to a rare condition that makes him eat all the time dies at 11

Endorse Buhari now, get presidency in 2023- SGF Boss Mustapha tells Igbos

Endorse Buhari now, get presidency in 2023- SGF Boss Mustapha tells IgbosSecretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, has reitereated the  presidency's promise to hand over power to the Igbos in 2023 if they support the second term ambition of President Buhari. Mustapha stated this today when President Buhari met with a delegation of South East leaders in the state house in Abuja. Speaking to state house correspondents after the meeting, Mustapha said that the fastest way for the Igbos to acqualize their dream of occupying the seat of power, is for the region to support the Buhari re-election bid in 2019 and then by 2023, the Igbo presidency can now become a reality.“This obviously might not be most appropriate time. You remember there was a programme in the south-east where Mr. President asked me to represent him and I flew the kite by telling the south-eastern states that their quickest and easiest means to presidency is to support President Muhammadu Buhari’s second term. Meaning that they can short circuit the period in terms of only having him there for another four years and whatever they do in 2019 will determine what will happen thereafter because politics is a game of numbers and it is like a cooperative society.“Whatever you bring as an investment when dividends are going to be shared, you will get proportionate with your investment and your investment in politics is what you bring to the table and I urge the Southeast to look at this matter seriously that every time we have a presidency in Nigeria, it is negotiated in several ways. Either negotiated by votes or what you bring to the table and you must negotiate from the position of strength.Speaking further, he saidYou can’t negotiate from the point of weakness and I believe that that message resonated with the people and their response now is attributable to the fact that even before the flag-off of the campaigns, we have laid it bare on the table for Southeastern states to consider the prospect of working with us to ensure that at least by the time President Buhari finishes his second tenure, they can make a shot at the presidency depending on what they bring to the table'' he saidThe post Endorse Buhari now, get presidency in 2023- SGF Boss Mustapha tells Igbos
