Alleged N2.1bn ONSA Fraud: Federal High Court orders Raymond Dokpesi to open his defence in February 2019

Alleged N2.1bn ONSA Fraud:Federal High Court orders Raymond Dokpesito open his defence inFebruary2019Chairman, Daar Communications, Raymond Dokpesi, who is being prosecuted by the EFCC before Justice John Tsoho of a Federal High Court, Abuja has been ordered to open his defence on February 20, 2019. Dokpesi alongside DAAR Investment and Holdings Ltd, owners of African Independent Television, AIT, and Raypower are being prosecuted by the EFCC, on a six-count charge bordering on alleged procurement fraud and breach of public trust. He is alleged to have received N2.1billion from the Office of the National Security Adviser, ONSA, between October 2014 and March 2015, during tenure of Col Sambo Dasuki (retd) as NSA for services not rendered. The EFCC had through its 12th witness, Abubakar Aliyu Madaki, led in evidence by Rotimi Jacobs, SAN, stressed that the defendant “did not do any contract but was paid”. However, rather than open its case, the media mogul had through his counsel, Kanu Agabi, SAN, filed a "no-case" submission arguing that his client had no case to answer in the alleged fraud. At today's proceeding, Justice Tsoho, after going through all the arguments and counter-arguments, dismissed his "no-case" application and ordered him to open his defence at the next adjourned date. “I hereby strike out the application,” the judge said, stressing that Dokpesi's claim that he had no case to answer could not be substantiated and so was a false claimThe post Alleged N2.1bn ONSA Fraud.

Alleged $3m Bribe: Femi Otedola appears In court, Insists Senator Farouk Lawan demanded money

Alleged $3m Bribe: Femi Otedola appears In court, Insists FaroukLawan demanded moneyOn Wednesday, founder of Zenon Oil, Femi Otedola appeared before an Abuja High Court to testify in the trial of a former member of the House of Representatives, Farouk Lawan for alleged fraud.   Otedola who is a prosecution witness in the trial was allegedly pressured by Lawan to part with a three-million-dollar bribe while Lawan was chairing a subcommittee investigating a multi-billion-dollar fraud associated with government fuel subsidy during the administration of former President Goodluck Jonathan.   Otedola entered the witness box after he was introduced by the prosecution counsel, Adegboyega Awomolo after which a video where Lawan was seen receiving $500 000 from the Zenon oil boss, was played. According to Otedola, the accused had indicted his company in the alleged fraud and demanded three million dollars to exonerate him. He added that after the initial deposit of $500,000 was paid into his account, Lawan declared Zenon Oil and Gas free of the initial indictment.   When asked by the prosecution counsel about the claim by Lawan that the witness forced him to take the money, Otedola denied it. Otedola also denied a claim by Lawan that Zenon Oil and Gas was exonerated on the basis of documents later provided by the company.   The defence counsel was, however, unable to cross-examine Otedola as he requested for an adjournment to enable his principal to attend the next trial and conduct the cross-examination. Lawan was first arraigned in February 2013 along with another accused, Boniface Emenalo, for allegedly receiving $620,000 of the alleged bribe from Otedola and his company. The post Alleged $3m Bribe:

Fayemi also said that the Yoruba race would be liberated in all ramification in 2019 if the South West come together to vote enmass for President Buhari.Fayemi who took over from Ayo Fayose in October, said this when he received a letter from a group under the aegis of Artisan, Traders and Allied Technicians’ Association, Ekiti chapter, endorsing President Buhari for the 2019 presidential poll, at the state government house in Ado-Ekiti the state capital yesterday November 21st. The letter was submitted to Fayemi for onward delivery to President Buhari by the state President of the association, Mr. Ebenezer Fadipe and members of his executive. While receiving the letter, Governor Fayemi said it will of immense benefit for the South West to vote in President Buhari in for a second term as he has proven through his appointments to be a lover of people from the region. Fayemi reminded the voters about  how the administration of Goodluck Jonathan had concentrated influential  political appointments in a certain zone in the South while the South-west was allegedly neglected under his reign.“Under President Jonathan, we saw how the Secretary to the Governmentof the Federation, the Minister of Finance, Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Chief of Staff to the President were concentrated in just two zones in the South while the South-west was abandoned. But when President Buhari came on board, he made a South-west person his vice-president, the Minister of Works, Power and Housing is from this zone, Minister of Health and other juicy positions were also allotted to the region. So, the coming election is for the liberation of the Yoruba race and only Buhari’s presidency could bring about the actualisation of this dream,” he said. The Governor of Ekiti State, Dr. Kayode Fayemi has said the only way Southwest can reciprocate the good work and gestures of President Muhammadu Buhari in the region is to vote massively for him in the 2019 presidential election. Of special interest to us is your diversification programme, which has revamped the solid mineral and agriculture sectors and rescued our economy from the monolithic structure of full dependence on oil and blocked all leakages leading to humongous pilfering of national wealth by few cabals . “We praise Mr President for ordering the extension of the proposed Lagos- Kano rail project plan to Ekiti out of the love he has for the people of this state. We know that this will help in no small measure in boosting the economy of the state when completed. “Added to the foregoing was the introduction of N-Power programme for the unemployed youths, where over 11,000 Ekiti graduates have benefited, transformation of the nation’s rail and air transportation sector, aggressive road construction, especially in the South West, School Feeding scheme, which will soon commence in Ekiti State and will shore up school enrollment in our dear state, and construction of Federal Secretariat and Low cost housing estate in the state for affordable houses under the National Housing Scheme. “We sincerely appreciate the President for his immense supports for Dr. Kayode Fayemi . Cyclist with knife in his head walks into hospital bleeding after being stabbed during attempted robbery

A cyclist with a knife lodged deep into his head walked into a hospital and asked "do you have a doctor free?Shaun, 34, was stabbed through the head with a knife during an attempted robbery. He rode to the hospital on his bicycle immediately after the attack with the knife stuck to him. Receptionists were shocked to see a blood-soaked man in front of them in a room full of patients. He had been cycling to work in Strand near Cape Town, South Africa, when he was attacked by two men, one of whom stabbed him in the head as they tried to grab his bike. But Shaun fought back and managed to beat them both off. He then got back on his bike and cycled to the nearest hospital with the knife sticking out of the side of his skull. The local GP Dr Brendan Venter, 48, said:One of our female doctors was on duty and she was called to a patient with a knife wound. To say it was dramatic to see him with a knife sticking out of the side of his head was an understatement but he was very calm and lucid although bleeding a lot.He asked very politely if we had a doctor free to see him.The doctor decided that rather than wait for an ambulance she would drive him to hospital in her car herself and he asked if it was OK to leave his bike with us.The patient was very lucky in that although the knife was plunged into his skull it bent on impact with the bone and the blade went down his face outside the skull. He was very very lucky that the blade hit him in the wrong spot to kill him.He fought for his bike back and rode to us as he knew where we were and we are his GP and when he got here he just walked in and calmly asked for help. This is not something that happens every day and it seems it is a violent gang who have struck viciously a few times in the last few weeks and they will be caught. It was not even an expensive bike and is one he cycles on to and from work each day. Why they used the level of violence they did is just beyond me.  Shaun was transferred into the Tygerberg Hospital nearby on Monday afternoon and underwent emergency surgery and a spokesman confirmed he was "stable".The South African Police Service confirmed they are investigating the attack.
