'Not one notable politician or political party has spoken up publicly for Deji and this sickens me' - FFK speaks on Deji Adeyanju's arrest

Read the article by Femi Fani Kayode below... I do not agree with him on everything and I deplore his views about my friend and brother, the lion of the east, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu yet the truth is that I love and admire my younger brother Prince Deji Adeyanju.   I consider the outrageous things that the Buhari government is doing to this deeply courageous man, who has always resisted tyranny and injustice and who has always spoken up for others, as unacceptable and I am utterly astounded at the silence of the entire political class in the face of this injustice.  Where are the voices of the leading members of the opposition and opposition political parties? Where are the voices of the Shiite Muslims whose cause he often championed?  Where are the voices of the human rights and civil rights groups who he stood shoulder to shoulder with in his quest to make Nigeria a better and safer place? Why have they not condemned this injustice and outrage?  Not one notable politician or political party or so-called leader has spoken up publicly for Deji and this sickens me. When will they learn that what has happened to Deji may end up also happening to them or theirs if not challenged and checked?  When will they learn to comprehend and come to appreciate the adage that says "an act of injustice against one is an act of  injustice against all?"  When will they stop being self-serving, self-centred,  shortsighted, lily-livered cowards and learn that we must all speak for one another and watch each others backs?  This is especially so regardless of how we may feel about the victim of the governments tyranny at any point in time? Whether you like him or not, it is Deji today but it could be any of you tomorrow.  When will they accept the fact that this battle is not merely about winning an election but about breaking the yoke of tyranny and liberating our people from wholesale bondage, modern-day servitide and good old-fashioned slavery?  When the history of this age is written, amongst the heroes that will be listed will not be the regular politicians and desperate office-seekers who regard themselves as todays leaders but rather selfless, courageous and strong-willed men and women of principle, honor and vision who were prepared to put everything on the line including their lives and liberty for a better tomorrow like Deji Adeyanju.  It is not members of today's ruling elite and political class who are, generally-speaking, fearful, timid, weak and frail and who, more often than not, are given to compromise with evil in return for gain but rather the non-conformists and great and heroic figures like Adeyanju that are  the true architects of what will eventually and inevitably be a new and free Nigeria where justice, the rule of law, self-determination, free speech, freedom of association, true democracy and liberty has its place. Deji may be in detention today and they may be planning to rearrest him when he is released and lock him up again on terrorism charges but the truth is that it really does not matter because tomorrow belongs to men like him.  And most important of all, no matter what they do, they cannot break his indomitable spirit. I weep not for Deji Adeyanju, I weep for Nigeria.

Jubril: 'I donate understand why Bishop Oyedepo keeps going this far to peddle falsehood and disinformation about President Buhari' - Tolu Ogunlesi

'I dont understand why Bishop Oyedepokeeps going this far to peddle falsehood and disinformation about President Buhari' - Tolu OgunlesiTolu Ogunlesi, one of President Buhari's media aides has reacted to yesterday's sermon by Bishop Oyedepo where the man of God addressed the issue of 'Jubril' from Sudan and its consequences. In the sermon, Bshop Oyedepo quoted an article (a satire) from The Nation newpaper and concluded that, 'If the President does not refute Jubril Al-Sudani, then he is not our president'. Tolu Ogunlesi in his response said;Olatunji Dare, one of Nigeria’s finest satirists, wrote a piece titled ‘Buhari’s Double’ on November 27 and Pastor of one of Nigeria’s LARGEST CHURCHES cites the SATIRE in a sermon (apparently yest) as evidence PMB likely dead.I know the Bishop has always detested PMB (its a free world, really, the right to dislike anyone is guaranteed constitutionally atink), but I don’t understand why he keeps going this far to peddle/amplify (from the pulpit) falsehood and disinformation about him. Really puzzling.Watch Bishop Oyedepo's sermon below..

Nigerian man in Denmark expresses shock after seeing the Mayor of Odense doing grocery shopping without bodyguards in sight

A Nigerian lady residing in Denmark, was taken aback over the weekend when she spotted the mayor(governor) of Odense, the third largest city in the country, doing his grocery for his family in the same mall where she was shopping as well. According to her, no security entourage was with him, a thing that is very peculiar to Nigerian politicians. Read what she wrote about her encounter belowThe mayor of Odense shopping for his family in thesame shop as me?Cant imagine the governor of Lagos state or even the governor of the smallest and most rural state in Nigeria shopping for his family? Let alone standing in public withput a thousand entourage of body guards and dressed in his biggest agbada?N.B Odense is the third largest city in Denmark one of the most happiest country in the world, and the least corrupt country in the world! LUTH strike: Doctors cry out over 3-months unpaid salaries

LUTH strike: Doctors cry out over 3-monthsunpaid salariesThe Association of Resident Doctors (ARD), Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH) Branch, has lamented over the non-payment of its members’ salaries by the hospital’s management in the last three months.   It called on the Federal Government to come to the members’ aid to enable them end the strike, which took effect last Thursday. The hospital’s ARD President, Dr. Adewale Oba, in an interview with The Nation at the association’s secretariat in LUTH, Idi-Araba, said the non-payment of salaries has affected his members negatively.   According to Oba, many resident doctors could no longer transport themselves to work, feed their families and take care of other basic things because their September, October and November salaries have not been paid.   However, a statement by the Head, Corporate Services, LUTH, Kelechi Otuneme, said the hospital’s management has engaged the Ministry of Finance and other appropriate ministries/ offices to correct the shortfall in payment of allocations, adding that efforts have reached an advanced stage to resolve it and pay outstanding salaries.   But, Oba said the association would continue with the strike because no specific information was made available to them on when the salaries would be paid. He lamented that many doctors have been borrowing money to cope with the economic situation in the country.  “We never wanted to go on strike, but we have been praying that things would be resolved before it got this worse. We have tried all forms of engagement to ensure that salaries are paid but till now, it has yielded no result.Over two weeks ago, we gave an ultimatum to LUTH management and the Federal Government, which lasted till last Wednesday. Following the ultimatum, the Congress of ARD LUTH took a decision to go on a total and indefinite strike, which began last Thursday.”  He noted that the association was informed that LUTH’s budget was cut short of about N3 billion from what it used to collect. Oba added that his members were informed that letters have been written to Ministry of Finance, “but there is no fruitful result yet”.   He said: “We cannot continue to be working without getting salaries. This is unthinkable and it is discriminatory. We hope that this situation does not get out of hand because Nigerian citizens do not deserve all of this. The resident doctors are the defence for consultants because we are in training and it is expected that the training we have been given should transfer to the patients. So, if we are not working, the consultants alone cannot see the patients in LUTH because of the massive inflow of patients into the hospital.

Ariana Grande covers her Pete Davidson tattoo with a tribute to Mac Miller

For Ariana Grande, ex-fiance Pete Davidson is history and she's making this known by covering up a tattoo she got in his honour with a tribute to her ex-boyfriend Mac Miller who died months ago of an accidental drug overdose. After watching behind the scenes footage from Ariana's "Thank U, Next" video, eagle-eyed fans noticed that the singer had altered the "8414" tattoo she had on her foot in honour of Pete Davidson. The numbers represented the badge that belonged to Pete's late firefighter dad who died in the September 11 terror attacks. The tattoo gotten as a tribute to Pete has now been covered up with a different tribute to her late ex-boyfriend Mac Miller. Mac Miller The new tattoo isn't the first Pete tribute she's had covered up since the pair split. She's covered other designs with a heart and also changed her "Reborn" tattoo into a feather.

It is despicable that President Buhari will continue to endorse the spinning of lies by his handlers against another Presidential candidate - PDP

It is despicable that President Buhari will continue to endorse the spinning of lies by his handlers against another Presidential candidate - PDPPDP has just issued a statement calling out the Buhari presidency over what it calls 'fresh lies on Atiku'. The attention of the PDP Presidential Campaign has been drawn to fresh fabrications allegedly being sponsored by the Muhammadu Buhari Presidency, in its unrelenting bid to tarnish the image of our Presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, since their realization that Nigerians have reached a consensus to vote him in as their next President. It is indeed despicable that President Buhari will continue to endorse the spinning of lies by his handlers against another Presidential candidate, including its false claims that Atiku Abubakar cannot travel to the United States, which Nigerians have since seen to be mere fabrications. Is it not ludicrous that the Buhari Presidency has abandoned its statutory duties and turned itself into a lying, “monitoring spirit” on Atiku Abubakar and his movements, yet it has not been able to produce any documentary evidence to substantiate its claims?President Buhari’s fixation on Atiku Abubakar, to the extent of sponsoring fabrications in a section of the media, only goes to show that he is intimidated by our candidate’s resume, his overwhelming popularity and policy direction, which have since amplified his (President Buhari’s) incompetence and lack of direction, as a result of which he is being rejected by the majority of Nigerians.Atiku Abubakar is a global figure and is not inhibited, in any way whatsoever, from traveling to any part of the world. However, he is not prepared to make the sky his office, unlike President Buhari, who unleashed a widely condemned taste for very expensive and wasteful gallivanting with our national fleet, while Nigerians wallow in abject poverty for neglect and abuse of resources. In any case, the PDP refuses to lose sight of the fact that our campaign is on the rescue mission and that Nigerians are looking up to our candidate for direction. As such, we will not allow the rejected Buhari Presidency to distract us from our focus of repositioning and redirecting our nation to the path of a united, peaceful, secure and prosperous nation where are all citizens are happy and free. The PDP Campaign therefore counsels President Buhari to note that Nigerians have moved ahead with Atiku Abubakar as their next President. He should therefore use the remaining days of his fading administration to prepare answers for his misrule.President Buhari should, by now, be providing answers for the over N11 trillion stolen under his watch, particularly in the petroleum sector where he sits as minister; the alleged diversion of funds meant for the purchase of weapons and welfare of our soldiers to finance his re-election campaign as well as the neglect and insensitivity that led to the escalation of killings and bloodletting in various parts of the country under his rule.President Buhari should provide answers for his incompetence and harsh economic policies that plunged our economy into recession, leading to high cost of living, loss of over 30 million jobs, acute poverty, hunger, collapse of infrastructure in our country in the last three and half years. On our own part, the PDP will continue to focus on issue-based campaign and run with practical answers to the myriad of challenges facing our nation in line with the manifesto of our repositioned party and the policy direction of our Presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar.

Did you know that squatting can change your voice?

Did you know that squatting can change your voice A MUSON scholar performing during the MTN sponsored masterclass held at the MUSON centre recentlyMasters – aficionados in a particular subject teach a masterclass. Right? That's exactly what happened at the MTN Foundation sponsored Masterclass for students of the Music Society of Nigeria (MUSON), many of whom are also beneficiaries of the Foundation’s music scholarship. Masters changed all we thought we knew about singing. See, we listened to people sing their hearts out, and we marvelled at the enabler that could possibly live in their lungs propelling them to sing like that! They reached pitches we had never heard before. Opera is a peculiar taste that takes some getting used to. We know. It’s not for everyone. We know. We were like you a month ago, but now we are fans after watching young people exhibit superhuman vocal chords at the masterclass held at the MUSON Centre, Onikan Lagos! People sang and we were gobsmacked! “That was awesome”, someone whispered from behind us. We really thought it couldn’t get better than that. Well, all that changed the moment the ‘masters’ stepped on the stage. Daniel Taylor, a countertenor and Ellen McAteer, a professor of voice at the University of Toronto and a two-time recipient of the Richard Bradshaw Graduate Fellowship in Opera, showed us the meaning of ‘master’.  Kai! And here comes a stunner. Daniel walked up to one of the performers who had blown us away and told her to squat when she sang a line. We raised our brows in question. Singing was now exercise? If only we had known. The next time the young woman opened her mouth, we simply stared. She sang better and everyone marvelled at a new revelation that was previously known only to the gods. It’s possible to sing better just by squatting! So now, before we sing we do some form of exercise ooo! We know better now.  A MUSON scholar performing during the MTN sponsored masterclass held at the MUSON centre recently. Daniel Taylor giving lessons to MUSON scholar during the masterclass. Daniel Taylor giving lessons to MUSON scholar during the masterclass An excited MUSON scholar during the masterclass. Daniel Taylor teaching during the masterclass Ellen McAteer teaching during the masterclass

Drake wins lawsuit against woman claiming he raped and impregnated her

Drake wins lawsuit against woman claiming he raped and impregnated herDrake has settled his lawsuit against Layla Lace (real name Laquana Morris), a woman who allegedly falsely claimed that she was raped and impregnated by the rapper. This was revealed by Drake’s attorney Larry Stein in a statement made to TMZ. “The filing made by Drake against Layla Lace has been resolved, with Layla avoiding going to trial by agreeing to a stipulated judgment which prohibits her from repeating past statements she made against Drake,” “Drake and his team are satisfied with this outcome and while Drake appreciates the support he has received, he asks that his fans and the media allow both parties to move on with their lives.” In September, Drake filed his lawsuit against Morris for civil extortion, fraud, emotional distress, abuse of process and defamation. In the suit, the rapper admits to having consensual sex with Morris while at a Manchester, England hotel in February 2017. According to the suit, soon after, Morris claimed she booked a flight to see him, but the suit alleged Morris became angry after she didn’t get a response and she then canceled the flight and Drake ceased communications with her. Then in April 2017, Morris took to Instagram and stated she was pregnant, claiming that Drake was the father. Soon after, she appeared on a radio show to discuss the claim. “I know who I sleep with unprotected, period,” she told SiriusXM’s Shade 45. “So it’s 100 percent sure. He knows it.” The suit also alleged that Morris also claimed that Drake raped her and that even after Manchester police cleared him of any allegations of sexual assault, Morris demanded money from the rapper.According to documents filed on Friday and obtained by TMZ, the rapper informed the court that he and Morris have resolved their legal issues. As part of the settlement per TMZ, Morris has agreed to abstain from republishing her Instagram post from April 2017 where she first made the pregnancy claim and that she will not make “statements alleging or insinuating [Drake] assaulted her,” got her pregnant and abandoned her, or any other denigrating comments about Drake.

Nigerian Army says $1bn approved to fight insurgency hasn̢۪t been released

The Nigerian Army says the $1 billion approved to fight insurgency and other security challenges in the country, has not been released. Recall that in 2017, the National Economic council (NEC) approved the request of the Federal government to withdraw $1 billion from the excess crude account for the fight against insurgency. Follwoing the recent attack in Metele and other areas in Borno where over 100 solders were reportedly killed, Nigerians asked why the military was still using obsolete weapons despite the approval of the $1 billion .Responding to this, the spokesperson of the Nigerian Army, Sani Usman, in an interview with NTA last night December 2nd, said the money is still being processed.“People should understand also that this is a democratic system in which procurement and of course funding of defense related issues takes such a long time. Take for instance the issue of the $1 billion approved recently by Mr. President, up till now the process is ongoing. The ministry of defense is still pursuing the matter to the point that when it is done, the armed forces will definitely get more equipment, more arms and ammunition.” Sani saidSpeaking further, Sani said the Army has identified those that have spread fake news about the recent attacks on military base in Metele and that its legal department is about to take them to court.“So sad and unfortunate that our troops came under enemy attack on the 18th of last month and we suffered causality as we mentioned. Sadly, we lost 23 gallant officers and men and of course some of them sustained injuries. In respect of the effort, we are trying as much as possible to make sure that first and foremost we give timely and accurate information on all our activities and operations bearing national security concern. And then secondly, we have gone a north further to identify where those fake news and fabricated stories are coming from, and definitely our legal department is taking step to make sure that all those involved would be taken to court'' he said

Boko Haram attack military base in Yobe, kill two soldiers

EFCC Impostor jailed for 8 years

EFCC Impostor jailed for 8 yearsJustice Aisha Kumaliya of the Borno State High Court sitting in Maiduguri has convicted and sentenced one Babakura Mustapha to eight years imprisonment for the offence of impersonation and obtaining money under false pretence. The offence is contrary to and punishable under Section 132 Penal Code Law Cap 102, Laws of Borno State. Mustapha was arraigned on June 6, 2018 and pleaded “not guilty”.In the course of the trial, the prosecution led by Khalid Sanusi presented three witnesses and tendered some documents, which were marked Exhibits A1-A4. Mustapha allegedly posed as a staff of the EFCC with the name “Mr. Kola” and in the assumed capacity presented himself to one Mamman Bukar as the operative handling “a case” purportedly against Bukar.Count one of the charge reads: “That you, BABAKURA MUSTAPHA sometime in June, 2017 at Maiduguri, Borno State within the jurisdiction of this Honourable court, falsely impersonate a staff of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, and in such assumed character; you presented yourself to Mamman Alh. Bukar, bearing a fictitious name Mr. Kola and pretended to be handling his case in Economic and Financial Crimes Commission and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under section 132 Penal Code Law Cap 102,Laws of Borno State.”Delivering judgment, Justice Kumaliya found him guilty and convicted him accordingly. During allocotus, counsel for the convict pleaded with the court to temper Justice with mercy as the convict was a first time offender and had a family to cater for. Sanusi on his part urged the court to invoke Section 365 of the CPC as to make the convict pay the sum of N80, 000 as compensation to the victim (PW1) in the case. Justice Kumaliya sentenced the convict on the first count of the charge to one year imprisonment or an option of fine of N50,000. On count two, the convict was sentenced to seven years imprisonment without an option of fine. “The convict should pay the sum of N100, 000 for impersonation and N800,000 to the complainant,” Justice Kumaliya ruled.

ASUU strike: FG withdraws `no work no pay threat

ASUU strike: FG withdraws `no work no pay threatThe Federal Government has withdrawn the recent threat to activate the ‘no work no pay policy’ against striking University teachers. This was disclosed by the National President of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, Prof. Biodun Ogunyemi, in a chat with Vanguard.   Ogunyemi also said that the negotiation meeting between ASUU and the Federal Government would continue on Monday, stressing that what the union was doing was to rescue the education sector from imminent collapse and to ensure that the children of the poor get access to quality and affordable education.   The ASUU boss also said that last Friday’s meeting between the two parties did not yield much results.  He said:  "well, we have confirmed that they have withdrawn that threat (no work no pay). So it appears the threat is not there for now. But even if the threat is there, we are prepared for that because for our members, no sacrifice is too much to salvage Nigeria’s education.Shortly before our action while the NLC (Nigeria Labour Congress) hullabaloo was going on with federal government, they went to the Federal Executive Council that they were activating that rule.”

President Buhari denies being a Chauvinist, says his administration has enough female representation

President Buhari has denied reports that he is a chauvinist and that his administration has a low percentage of female representation. The President reacted to the report when he spoke with the Nigerian community in Poland yesterday, December 2nd.When asked about the number of women in his administration, President Buhari said‘‘I have plans for all Nigerians. I am not a male chauvinist. If I’m a chauvinist will I give the Finance Ministry to women?’’ . President Buhari also used the occasion to reiterate that his government will continue to maintain focus and deliver on the three focal points of his campaign in 2015: security, economy and the fight against corruption.  ‘‘Those in the North East will tell you that in spite of the recent setbacks, there is a difference between the time we came and before.  We are not doing badly on security, economy and agriculture. We have virtually stopped the importation of food especially rice and we are saving a lot of money. We now have food security and that has come with fiscal security because a lot of young educated people have not regretted going back to the farms and earning a respectable living. I am afraid, this is not receiving good publicity… but a lot of people in the rural areas are enjoying the benefits of our interventions in agriculture,’’ he said.
