York rapper, Juelz Santana, has been sentenced to 27 months in prison
after pleading guilty to possession of a firearm by a convicted felon
and carrying a weapon on an aircraft. According to TMZ, James also pled
guilty to “possession of a controlled dangerous substance.” James will
reportedly “be under supervised release” for one year following his
prison sentence. The rapper whose real name is LaRon Louis James was
arrested in March after security staff at New Jersey’s Newark Liberty
International Airport found a loaded 38-caliber handgun and
nonprescription Oxycodone pills in a carry-on bag containing his
identification.He abandoned his luggage and left the area, but turned
himself in three days later. In 2011, he was also arrested after police
found two loaded handguns, 17 bags of marijuana and drug paraphernalia
while raiding his New Jersey studio. Santana pleaded guilty to
fourth-degree marijuana distribution.
The
United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) says Nigeria, and West
and Central Africa face “disruptive and destabilising” new trends
regarding drug trafficking, drug use and other crimes. The Executive
Director of UNODC, Yury Fedotov, said this while briefing the UN
Security Council session, presided by Côte d’Ivoire. The briefing was
the council’s first thematic meeting on ‘Drug Trafficking and its Threat
to Stability, Peace and Security’, since December 2013. Fedotov said
the UNODC’s 2018 World Drug Report shows that West and Central Africa,
along with North African countries, accounted for 87 per cent of
pharmaceutical opioids seized globally. The UNODC chief said: “This is
largely due to rising use of tramadol, an opioid painkiller that is
widely trafficked for non-medical use in the region". “Africa, along
with Asia, also saw the largest rises in cocaine seizures, suggesting
that cocaine trafficking and consumption have spread to these
markets.Through UNODC AIRCOP, which works in several African airports,
we know that heroin seizures are on the rise across the region with
Lagos, Accra and Cotonou airports high on the list, closely followed by
Bamako, Lomé and Ouagadougou.Methamphetamine seizures have now almost
reached the same level as cocaine seizures, with Lagos and Cotonou being
the main airports concerned. Recently, an increased number of seizures
of precursors such as Ephedrine and Phenacetine has been recorded at
both airports, which may indicate the existence of new laboratories
producing psychoactive substances.’’ The head of UNODC noted increasing
transiting of opiates through West Africa en route to European and
North American markets. “UNODC is registering new alarming trends on
drug trafficking in West and Central Africa with disruptive and
destabilising effects on governance, security, economic growth and
public health,” he said. Drug use is also rising across the region,
“representing a serious threat to public health,” according to the UN
crime fighting chief. Fedotov noted that the agency estimated that in
2016, there were more than 34 million cannabis users and 1.8 million
cocaine users in West and Central Africa. Only one in 18 drug users with
addiction issues have access to medical treatment, Fedotov regretted.
At the same time, he said, the region is grappling with many other
crime-related security threats, including arms trafficking, money
laundering, human trafficking, cybercrime and maritime piracy as well as
threats posed by terrorism.
Two
female suicide bombers were apprehended at Mushimari settlement in
Konduga L.G.A of Borno State while attempting to infiltrate the 222
Batallion Defensive Location yesterday December 19th at about 9pm. They
were apprehended by the troops and vest strapped on the suspected

striker for Jamshedpur FC has now been suspended for six months after it
emerged he is actually 28 and not 16 as he listed on league

also been revoked with immediate effect after the striker was
suspended.The All India Football Federation statement read: 'All India
Football Federation (AIFF) Disciplinary Committee has imposed a
six-month suspension on Jamshedpur FC player Gourav Mukhi with immediate
effect.'The AIFF Disciplinary Committee found the player Gourav Mukhi
guilty on the basis of the evidence presented by him, his admissions and
the statements of Manager of U-16 AIFF academy in 2015.'The AIFF
Disciplinary Committee also observed that the existing registration of
Gourav Mukhi, both in the Central Registration System (CRS) as well as
the Competition Management System (CMS) shall stand cancelled and
revoked with immediate effect, with liberty upon the player/his
appropriate club, to submit original valid appropriate documents for
fresh registration under CRS and CMS.'

New
mom and rapper, Remy Ma, has reportedly returned to the hospital days
after welcoming her Child, due to complications from
childbirth.According to TMZ, Remy “was suffering from excessive bleeding
Tuesday night and went right back to the hospital. The post-birth
complications necessitated emergency surgery.” But thankfully she had a
successful blood transfusion and is expected to be released in a day or
two.This comes days after Papoose and Remy Ma announced the birth of
their daughter with the rapper admitting that it was “tough labor”

The
Nigerian Union South Africa (NUSA) has announced the death of Udebuani
Chidokweanaukwu, who drowned at a beach. Late Chidokweanaukwu, a
native of Nando in Anambra State, is reported to have drowned at a beach
in Swellendam near Cape Town, Western Cape, South Africa. The publicity
secretary of the union, Habib Miller, confirmed the accident in a
statement saying, “with sorrow and heavy heart, we have received the
news of the death of Udebuani Chidokweanaukwu from Nando, Anambra State.
According to the information from an eye-witness, Chidikweanaukwu got
drowned on the beach at Swellendam on December 17. He is survived by his
wife and children. NUSA sympathises with his family and friends at this
difficult time of grief and pray God comfort them,” he said. Miller
urged members to be cautious as well as obey safety rules when visiting
the beach and other hazardous places.

59-year-old man, Olawale Olatunji, said to be posing as a retired
Assistant Inspector-General of Police at a bank in Kubwa, a satellite
town in the Federal Capital Territory, has been arrested by the police
with 11 Automatic Teller Machine cards and 10 chequebooks of different
banks found on him.Parading the suspect before newsmen at the command's
headquarters in Abuja on Wednesday December 19th, the FCT Commissioner
of Police, Bala Ciroma, said that Olatunji had posed as an AIG to
defraud unsuspecting members of the public by promising to assist them
to get contracts at the Police Air Wing Department.“On December 10,
2018, police operatives from the command arrested Olatunji, who had been
parading himself as a retired AIG. The suspect had under the same
pretext defrauded unsuspecting members of the public by offering to help
them secure contracts at the Police Air Wing. In the course of
investigation, fake Police Air Wing receipts, fake contract documents,
11 ATM cards, 10 chequebooks and letterheads of different companies were
recovered from him as exhibits.”Olatunji who admitted to owning all the
incriminating items found on him, denied carrying out any fraudulent
activities. He demanded that the police charge him to court
immediately. “A pastor introduced me to someone as a retired AIG, but I
didn’t defraud anyone. The ATM cards and chequebooks are for my bank
accounts, which were opened for my business with different companies,”
he said

Shehu Sani, the lawmaker representing Kaduna Central has reacted to the
uproar experienced on the floor of the National Assembly while
President Buhari was presenting the 2019 proposed budget. In reaction to
the lack of decorum which characterized the budget presentation,
Senator Sani said it is ‘absurd’ that lawmakers should behave in such a
manner when a major legislative process was ongoing. He said: “the
Budget Presentation was a theater of the absurd, one side of the opera
occupied by the oleaginous and obsequious choristers craving for the
attention of President Buhari, cheering even a sip of water, and the
other occupied by unruly bands of impudent hecklers and discourteous

Police IG, Ibrahim Idris has deployed the Intelligence Response Team and
the Special Tactical Squad to Nasarawa State to fish out the killers of
former Chief of Defence Staff, Air Chief Marshal Alex Badeh. Spokesman
for Nasarawa State Police Command, Kennedy Idirisu, said in Lafia on
Wednesday that the team, alongside senior military personnel, were led
to the scene of the incident by the Commissioner of Police, Yahaya
Bello, in line with the IGP directive. Idirisu said that the late
Badeh was shot dead at about 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday by gunmen at Tudu-Uku
village along Gitata-Keffi road in Karu Local Government Area of the
state. He explained that the former Chief of Defence Staff was returning
from his farm in the company of his friend and driver when unknown
gunmen ambushed and opened fire on their moving vehicle. “The former
Chief of Defense Staff suffered gunshot injury, which resulted in his
death, with the driver sustaining injuries while the friend was
abducted.The Nasarawa State Commissioner of Police is therefore calling
on the public with useful information to avail the police with the view
to rescuing the abducted person and arresting the perpetrators of the
dastardly act,” Idirisu said. He assured that any information from the
public that would aid the investigation would be treated with utmost
confidentiality.

Federal Government has declared Tuesday 25th, Wednesday 26th
December 2018 and Tuesday Jan. 1st 2019, as public holidays to mark
Christmas, Boxing Day and New Year celebrations respectively.This was
