We have been on his trail since then. He went to his sister’s house in Mowe to hide. His sister was treating him of the bullet wounds.  We have arrested her and her husband too because they are accomplices. He was the Grand Commander of the attack and rescue operations of the Prison in Niger State early this year where he lost one of his eyes during the operation while over 100 prisoners escaped.” the police source saidConfirming Umar’s arrest, police spokesman Jimoh Moshood, an acting Deputy Commissioner said he would soon be paraded.“It is true that he was arrested in Lagos. The driver who was shot during the attack that led to Alex Badeh's death is alive and recuperating - Nigerian NavyThe Nigerian Navy has issued an official statement to address some issues surruonding the death of former Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), Air Chief Marshal Alex Badeh. According to the Navy, the driver who was wounded in the attack is alive and recuperating as investigation into the incident is substantially progressing. The statement reads, 'the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has noted, with dismay, some erroneous reports and comments in the media regarding the unfortunate incident that led to the death of former Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), Air Chief Marshal Alex Badeh, on 18 December 2018. Some of these reports erroneously state that the driver of the late former CDS, who was also shot during the incident, is dead. Secondly, Air Chief Marshal Badeh has always been provided with the full compliment of personal staff and security personnel commensurate with his status as a former Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), CDS and a 4-star general in the Armed Forces of Nigeria. As mentioned by the CAS, Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar, on 19 December 2018, the NAF is working closely with other relevant security agencies to determine the circumstances surrounding the death of the former CDS with a view to ensuring that the perpetrators of the heinous act are brought to justice. Substantial progress has already been made in the ongoing investigation and details would be communicated at the appropriate time. While appreciating the overwhelming show of support received from well-meaning Nigerians during this trying time, the NAF wishes to request that the spreading of misinformation about the incident should stop forthwith as this could have adverse effects on the conduct of ongoing operations.

My eyes!!We got a phone call from the school and they informed us about her state! Chai!!! My sister totally lost her sight. She was really pained, she thought all hope was lost.Imagine she can't see anything again! Not even the face of her loved ones or the color of her clothes, (life is unpredictable)As time goes on, she was enrolled in a special school for the blind situated at Oji-River, that was the place she met this man sitting with her in the picture who is now her husband, who has his own life challenging story, The two of them met and fell in love with themselves, after some many training in the school, they left for Lagos and enrolled in a skill acquisition program where they learnt how to make beads, liquid soaps, disinfectants, and some many other things..He came for her hand in marriage which my sister accepted since she can't continue living in depression, God blessed them with those kids you are seeing..I thank God for the life of my sister who is trying hard to survive this condition, I thank God for her husband, and I also thank God for the children he Blessed them with!! Glory be to God, I pray God continue to supply their needs, give them life, locate their helpers and equally regain their sight for them, Amen!!!

Minimum wage: NLC issues December 31 deadline to FG

Minimum wage: NLC issues December31 deadline to FGThe organised labour has given the Federal Government up to December 31 to send the tripartite committee report on N30,000 minimum wage to the National Assembly following a decision that was taken in Lagos on Thursday at a joint meeting of three labour centres—the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Trade Union Congress (TUC) and the United Labour Congress (ULC).   Labour said the ultimatum followed President Buhari’s statement that a “high powered technical committee” would be set up to device ways of ensuring that the implementation of the new wage did not lead to an increase in the level of borrowing.   NLC President, Ayuba Wabba, who addressed newsmen after the meeting, said that setting up a technical committee could not be a condition for passing the minimum wage report to the National Assembly. According to Wabba, the organised labour cannot guarantee industrial peace and harmony in the country if the wage report was not passed for implementation on or before December 31.  “We reject in its entirety the plan to set up another `high powered technical committee’ on the minimum wage. It is diversionary and a delay tactics. The national minimum wage committee was both technical and all-encompassing in its compositions and plan to set up a technical committee is alien to the tripartite process. It is also alien to the  International Labour Organisations’ conventions on national minimum wage setting mechanism,’’ he said.  The labour leader said that issues on payment of minimum wage was a law that was universal, citing that other African countries like, Kenya, Ghana and South Africa had increased their minimum wage this year

Sowore sues NEDG/BON, asking the court to stop Presidential debate from holding without him

Sowore sues NEDG/BON, asking thecourt to stop Presidential debate from holding without himThe African African Congress (AAC) has filed a lawsuit against the Nigeria Elections Debate Group (NEDG) and the Broadcasting Organisations of Nigeria (BON) over the exclusion of its presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, from the presidential debate. A statement by Malcolm Fabiyi, Director General of the TakeItBack Movement and Sowore 2019 Campaign, noted that the lawsuit was filed on Wednesday. The suit, filed by Barrister Inibehe Effiong, the AAC Legal Adviser, asked the court to prevent the debate from going ahead without AAC. It also asked the court to compel the NEDG/BON to explain why the party was excluded from the debate.   Speaking on why the party instituted a case against NEDG and BON, Fabiyi said: "The Nigeria Elections Debate Group (NEDG), in association with the Broadcasting Organisations of Nigeria and Channels TV, has been resolute in its discrimination against Omoyele Sowore, presidential candidate for the African Action Congress. Despite being one of the top three parties in polls and surveys, the NEDG fraudulently excluded the AAC and selected other parties for the debate. The NEDG has cited multiple excuses for its discriminatory refusal to include the AAC. None of those excuses hold water."The nation is aware by now that the AAC party and the Take it Back Movement will not take injustice, discrimination or oppression lightly. We do not accept it when meted out to innocent Nigerians as we have shown in various protests, and we certainly will not accept it against ourselves or our efforts."This lawsuit should not only help ensure that the right of all Nigerians to have an authentic, unfiltered debate about the Nigeria’s future is assured, it would also serve notice to all those who hide behind legitimate institutions and organizations to perpetuate the oppression and the drowning out of legitimate voices from national discourse, that their days of impunity are over."We hope that the Nigerian judicial system will show itself to be strong, virile and independent as this case makes it way through the courts. Nigeria MUST progress."

It however turned out to be false. When the charge was read to him, he did not waste the time of the Court as he pleaded “guilty”. Justice Jauro, thereafter, convicted and sentenced him to one year in prison with an option of N20, 000 fine. In a related development, the EFCC secured the conviction of Abubakar Umar and Nafiu Ibrahim for offences bordering on conspiracy and cheating. Umar and Ibrahim were arraigned before Justice Jauro on a two-count charge. They allegedly defrauded Hadiza Bajoga and Rakiya Yakubu of about N4 million. The EFCC had received a petition from his victims. Subsequently, an investigation was launched into the alleged crime, which led to their arrest in Kano State. One of the counts reads: “That you Abubakar Ahmed Umar and Nafiu Ibrahim sometime in December 2017 or thereabout at Gombe, Gombe State within the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court, did fraudulently induce one Hadiza Yakubu to deliver to you monies totalling the sum of N4,000,000 (Four Million Naira Only) on WhatsApp group chat, under the name "Success Oil & Gas" and that the said sum was to be used for investing in Oil and Gas business which you knew same to be false and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 320 and Punishable under Section 322 of the Penal Code Law”. They pleaded “guilty” to the charges when they were read to them. Based on their pleas, prosecuting counsel, Zarami Muhammad, asked the court to convict them accordingly
