The
Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) has alleged that the presidency is
plotting to arrest all its members who booed President Buhari during the
presentation of the 2019 budget last week. This allegation was made by
the spokesperson of the party's Presidential Campaign Organization,
Buba Galadima, when he spoke with newsmen in Abuja yesterday December
23rd. Galadima claims he has it on good authority that the presidency
was taking the names of those who supposedly booed the president in
order to send either the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC)
or the police after them.“We learnt under an impeccable authority that
some of his close aides are meeting and taking names of those who
supposedly booed the president. Whether to frame them, either with the
EFCC or ask the police to invite them, I don’t know. They can’t arrest
any parliamentarian for booing the president on what he thinks is
correct. That the president misrepresented what has happened in his or
her constituency. They should be careful with what they are trying to
do, because what they are planning to do, whether the president knows or
he doesn’t know, will affect the 2019 general elections.“Therefore, it
is not out of place for members of the National Assembly and for all of
you to know that there is a parliamentary immunity. That if members are
within that hallow chamber, they can say anything and it will not offend
any law. In fact, they cannot even be tried in the court of law for
what they say in the National Assembly chambers. He has no authority
whatsoever, or his agents – whether EFCC, ICPC, police, and DSS – to
accost any parliamentarian for having booed the president for what he
read out on the floor of the National Assembly.” he saidRecall that
President Buhari was booed by some members of the opposition party at
the National Assembly during the budget presentation. It got so bad
President Buhari had to stop his presentation to remind the lawmakers
that the world is watch as he does his presentation and that they all
need to comport themselves-

Nigerian detained in US, our findings - Abike Dabiri
The
Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Foreign
Affairs and Diaspora has given more insight into the circumstances
surrounding the arrest of a Nigerian, Mr Okufolajimi Abegunde in US
since June 25, 2018 even though till date there was no official
correspondence to the effect from the family.2. However, that
notwithstanding, these are the facts of the matter :(a) A US department
of Justice has since June 2018 arrested and charged eight people
including Mr Abegunde for cybercrime and business email compromise
conspiracy.(b) They were alleged to have defrauded some US Companies and
individuals to the tune of $15 Million USD.(c) However, Mr Abegunde
claimed innocence, saying his address was used by a friend of his, Mr
Ayodeji Ojo, who has apparently been previously charged with conspiracy
to commit fraud and is currently at large.(d) Mr Abegunde along with the
7 others, currently have a criminal case against them in the US, . Mr
Abegunde had his detention hearing on June 25th.(e) However, when the
Nigerian consulate in Atlanta became aware of the detention of Mr
Abegunde, who claimed innocence,a letter was written to the West
Tennessee Detention Facility in Mason, Tennessee (where he is detained)
requesting consular access.3. The consulate in Atlanta is awaiting
response for consular access to Mr Abegunde through the US Department
of State in Washington. , without which the mission cannot visit him4.
The case of Mr Abegunde underscores the need for our citizens to be
careful of how they deal with people, even acquaintances, especially
when it comes to financial matters.5. Mr Abegunde ‘s pleas that his
friend, Mr Ayodeji Olumide Ojo, usedhis address to open a bank account
in a US bank, will hopefully be proven right in court6. Unfortunately,
Mr Ojo , his friend, who has been previously indicted by the US
Department of Justice and charged with conspiracy to commit fraud is
currently on the run7. The consulate will undertake a consular visit to
Mr Abegunde as soon as consular access is granted by the US
authorities.8. Please find attached a detailed report by the US Justice
department on the matter:http://bit.ly/2AdO32J BalogunS.A.Media to Hon.

Musa Manzini, from South Africa, played his guitar during the successful operation.
According to one of the neurosurgeons, Dr. Rohen Harrichandparsad, the playing of the guitar helped guide surgeons during the delicate surgery whilst "preserving natural pathways".
Mr Manzini was given local anaesthetic by doctors during the procedure, also known as an "awake craniotomy" at Inkosi Albert Luthuli Central Hospital in Durban.
Dr Harrichandparsad said:
It increased the margin of safety for us, in that we could have real-time feedback on what we were doing intraoperatively.Doctors said they gave Mr Manzini his instrument toward the end of the procedure so they could check that everything was in order. The doctors wanted to test Mr Manzini’s "ability to produce music" during surgery, which requires the complex interaction of pathways in the brain.
A photo and video taken by the medical team shows the musician lying with his guitar in the operating room.
"There you are, do your thing," a team member says as he begins playing.
In an "awake craniotomy," some doctors choose to stimulate parts of the brain with a mild electrical current as a way of testing and mapping areas that control key functions of the brain such as movement and speech. If a patient is struggling to speak when the current is applied to a particular area, doctors know they must protect it during tumour removal.
