ASUU Strike: We May Not Honour FG’s Call Again – ASUU

What-PMB--Oshiomhole-should-do-to-help-Taraba-APC553994718218789316.jpg
The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) says it may not honour further calls by Federal Government for a meeting on the way forward over the current strike by its members.
The union’s National President, Prof. Biodun Ogunyemi, said this on the sideline of a news conference on the update of the union’s struggle to salvage the country’s public universities from deterioration on Sunday in Lagos.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the members of the union, under the aegis of ASUU, had on Nov. 4, embarked on what it had described as a ‘total, comprehensive and indefinite strike’.
Members of the union were protesting the non implementation of agreements entered into with the federal government in 2009 and 2017, as well as funding and improved welfare for members, among other issues.
According to Ogunyemi, to ensure that the agreements were implemented, union had held series of consultative meetings with the government and written series of letters with little or nothing to the effect.
He noted that it was against this backdrop that union resumed strike on Nov. 4. “Since the commencement of this strike, we have had six meetings with agents of the Federal Government, with no clear commitment from government to resolving the issues we presented. “Government appears to have adopted ‘keep them talking’ strategy while deceiving the public that progress was being made and that partial agreements had been reached between union and government.
“We want to say that government has continually and falsely raised the hopes of the Nigerian public on the state of duscussion with our union and we may not be interested in holding further dialogue with them until we see signs of commitment and sincerity in addressing the issues before them.
“Our expectation from a very responsive and sincere position is that by now, all outstanding issues would gave been resolved to the satisfaction of both parties.
“Unfortunately, government is yet to show commitment and sincerity in addressing these problems,” he said. According to the don, on the renegotiation of federal government/ASUU agreeement, there are still unresolved issues about the leadership of the government team. “We have strong reasons to believe that the continuation of Dr Wale Babalakin as the head of the renegotiation with ASUU will not yield good fruit,” he said

Solskjaer’s Champions League clause at Manchester United revealed

EPL--Solskjaer---s-Champions-League-clause-at-Manchester-United-revealed752019375636991874.jpg
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will be handed a £2million bonus, if he can lead Manchester United into the top four and secure Champions League qualification.
United were 11 points off fourth spot, when Solskjaer was named interim manager following Jose Mourinho’s sacking last week.
But a 5-1 thrashing of Cardiff City, coupled with Chelsea’s surprise home defeat to Leicester, has already reduced the gap down to eight points.
United executive vice chairman, Ed Woodward, is desperate to see the club secure a top-four finish this season.
Missing out on the Champions League would be unthinkable for United and cost them more than £40m in lost revenue, prize money and sponsorship clauses.

Five weightlifters, including two Olympic champions, have been provisionally suspended after reanalysis of urine samples provided during the 2012 London Olympics, the International Weightlifting Federation announced on Monday.
Ukrainian Oleksiy Torokhtiy, Olympic -105kg gold medallist six years ago, and Uzbek Ruslan Nurudinov, who won the same category in the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Games, both tested positive for anabolic steroids.

Only Torokhtiy stands to lose his title, as the samples retested were given four years before Nurudinov’s gold-medal winning performance in Brazil.
Valentin Hristov of Azerbaijan, currently serving an eight-year ban following two positive doping tests in 2013 and 2015, could lose his 2012 bronze medal from the -56kg category after also testing positive for an anabolic agent.
The other two athletes to test positive — Armenia’s Meline Daluzyan and Belarusian Mikalai Novikau — did not win medals in London.
Last month, the International Olympic Committee announced that new analysis of samples from the 2012 Games using “the most recent scientific methods” would be entrusted to the newly-formed International Testing Agency.

“This is a time for us to be our brother’s keeper, extend our generosity to one another and ensure that the less-privileged among us are not left out of the ensuing merriment,” he stated.
Saraki noted that the upcoming election was another opportunity to lay a new foundation for the growth and prosperity of the nation and to banish poverty from the land.
He prayed for journey mercies for as many Nigerians that would have to travel during the period.
The Senate President also urged the police and other security agencies to be alive to their responsibilities and ensure that the lives and property of Nigerians were fully secured at all times.

Identical twin sisters who share one boyfriend plead for a change in the law so they can be allowed to marry him
A set of twin sisters who refer to themselves as the “world’s most identical twins” have made a desperate plea to be allowed to marry their shared boyfriend.
Anna and Lucy De Cinque, 33, have been dating Ben Byrne for six years now and they believe they are ready to take the relationship to the next level. But the law in Australia where they live does not allow for polygamy.

Identical twin sisters who share one boyfriend plead for a change in the law so they can be allowed to marry him

Speaking at the same time on Australia TV’s "Hughesy, We Have a Problem", the sisters said:
Okay, so we share a partner Ben and we would like marry him one day but the law in Australia says we can’t, so what do we do?

They’ve shared the clip on their own Instagram page with the caption:

We share a unique problem. WE WANT TO MARRY THE SAME MAN.

Polygamy is indeed banned under the Marriage Act 1961, in the country. Yet the twins, from Perth, claim they’ve always had the vision in mind with Ben,  a mechanic. Ben lived a 40-minute drive away from the inseparable sisters, until he moved in with them and their mum in 2017.
Lucy added:
Ben treats us completely equally. If he kisses Anna, he kisses me right after, and holds both our hands when we’re out.
We all sleep together, but it’s not like a threesome as we don’t get involved with each other. Some people say it’s disgusting, but it works for us.

Nigeria will be finished if President Buhari remains for another four years- Peter Obi

Nigeria will be finished if President Buhari remains for another four years- Peter ObiPDP vice-presidential candidate, Peter Obi, says Nigeria will be finished if President Buhari is allowed to remain in office for another four years. Obi said this when he spoke at a conference in Lagos over the weekend. “We need to know where we are going as a nation but with Buhari at the helms of affairs, we do not know where we are going. Buhari is not in charge of this government as he does not know or care what the poor people are going through. Nigerians are currently the poorest people on earth, yet the Muhammadu Buhari administration of the All Progressives Congress (APC) is still looking at taxing them the more. Take look at the budget presented by the President a few days ago and you will see that it does not give anyone hope instead, it tells us that we are still where we have always been. A quarter of the budget is meant to service debts, and that is about 60% of the budget while the President keeps telling Nigerians to tighten their belts because of the harsh times staring at us in the future.“Does that give anyone confidence in this government? Not at all, I dare say. While presenting the budget, he said that the government is looking for ways to tax Nigerians the more. What are you taxing the poor people for? Does that give any one of us hope in this government? That means that if we keep them for the next four years, we are finished.” he said
