Ogun APC crisis deepens as Governor Amosun vows to work against party's governorship candidate, Dapo Abiodun
The
crisis in APC Ogun state has taken a different turn as the state
governor, Ibikunle Amosun who is still a member of the All Progressives
Congress (APC), has vowed to work against the party's governorship
candidate, Dapo Abiodun. Recall that Amosun's preferred candidate,
Adekunle Abiodun, lost the party's ticket and eventually defected to
the Allied People’s Movement (APM). Speaking at a stakeholders meeting
of the APC in Abeokuta on Monday December 3rd, Amosun said he was aware
of Akinlade's defection from APC and could not stop it because he felt
the party leaders worked against Akinlade during the party primaries.
Amosun stated he would support Buhari's campaign in the state but would
never support the governorship candidate, Dapo Abiodun.“When these
people came, they told me they are leaving the APC, I said ‘no’ but I
couldn’t stop them. In fact, Akinlade has my full support. I am not
going to stop him, everything I have, I will use to support him, let
them try whatever they want to try, we also have our strategies and I am
not going to hide behind one finger.“I remain in APC because that’s
what those people want, they want us to leave APC but they are joking. I
will stay in APC to ensure that Buhari wins in Ogun state and to let

Department of State Services (DSS) yesterday paraded one Amina Mohammed
for allegedly impersonating the wife of the president, Aisha Buhari.
While parading the suspect before newsmen, the DSS spokesman Peter
Afunanya, said Mohammed impersonated Aisha Buhari to defraud one
Alexander Chika Okafor (aka Chicason) of N150 million.Speaking, Afunanya
said“The woman who is being paraded has adopted various aliases and
used the same false identities to defraud several unsuspecting persons
before she was discovered. She used the false identity to evade protocol
and scrutiny thus gaining unauthorized access into the Villa and
particularly the residence of the First Lady and wife of the president,
Hajia Aisha Buhari. She took advantage of the fact that personalities as
First Ladies, Ministers and certain categories of officials are not
taken through rigorous protocol and security checks at the Villa
posts.Investigation has revealed that the First Lady was away on Lesser
Hajj and not in the Villa during the period. Okafor had complained that
he was fleeced of over N150 million in respect of a Court of Appeal
property in Lagos which Amina had promised to help him buy through the
First Lady. The property was said to have been part of those under the
Presidential Implementation Committee on Lease of Federal Government
Properties. Investigation has shown that this unholy enterprise is not
to the knowledge of the First Lady. What Amina simply did was to use the
First Lady’s name and Office as bait to lure and defraud her victims,”
he said.When interrogated, the suspect said “The DSS did not arrest me. I
came here on their invitation. I am not a fraudster, the sisters of the
First Lady is involved in this business. I cannot accept this
allegation. The former SGF, Babachir Lawal is involved in this fraud.

2019: No credible presidential candidate yet for Nigerians“ Onaiyekan

Catholic Archbishop of Abuja, John Cardinal Onaiyekan, has said
Nigerians are in a difficult situation as there is no
credible presidential candidate to vote for in the 2019 general
election.According to the clergyman, the new political parties that
would have joined forces to produce a credible presidential candidate
failed to do so due to their selfish interests.Onaiyekan said this when
he spoke over the weekend in Abuja on the topic: “The Church in
Politics: Towards the election year 2019” at an event organized by
Catholic Action -Nigeria.”Onaiyekan said that the country is in a great
dilemma as it appears that Nigerians are faced with the horrible tragedy
of a choice between two well-known undesirable candidates.“We see this
clearly in our country Nigeria. We hear politicians often speaking about
serving the nation. It has now become a huge joke. Even the simplest
village man knows that the people in authority are not serving us. This
is the major cause of our problems. Rulers become dictators instead of

has called for the end of lavish and extravagant wedding ceremonies as
the government ramps up its campaign against gaudy displays of
wealth. The ministry of civil affairs said, weddings should “integrate
core socialist values and Chinese traditional culture” and shun anything
extravagant. Officials stressed at a conference on wedding reform over
the weekend that it was “necessary” to incorporate “Xi Jinping Thought,”
the Chinese president’s political ideology, into wedding and marriage
planning. The ministry will ask local authorities to come up with
“wedding etiquette” rules, following the example of one Chinese county
that already limits guests to 200 and permits no gift worth more than
60,000 yuan explicitly forbidding houses and cars. Weddings have long
offered an opportunity for the Chinese to show off their wealth in a
culture where “saving face” is hugely important. The more lavish the

the cost for a bride at 30,000 yuan. These “reverse dowries” typically
include the cost of an expensive wedding and a cash payment to the bride
and her family. Prices have risen significantly in rural areas where

Ogun State Police command has arrested Victor Nnachata, a 20-year-old
300-level Political Science student of the Nnamdi Azikiwe University,
Awka, Anambra State, who revealed that he went to a herbalist because he
wanted charms that would make him become a billionaire. Nnachata was
arrested alongside 4 others suspects in Ogun State. They are: Kabiru
Badmos, Nurudeen Shodaolu, Olarewaju Jimoh (a cemetery guard) and
Mayewunmi Lukmon. Nnachata, who came all the way from Onitsha to
Abeokuta, in search of the herbalist, disclosed that the man was
introduced to him by his friend called Gabriel. He explained that when
he met Badmos, the man presented three different types of money-making
ritual to him. He was asked to pick one. “I’m into NaijaBet game, but
the business was not doing well the way I wanted it." He said. "I
discussed with Gabriel on how to move it forward. That was when he gave
me the phone number of Badmos. When I got to Badmos’ house, I explained
everything to him. He gave me three different money rituals to choose
from. The first one entails swallowing a bird, and to do that, I would
have to use alcohol. The second option would only work for a month,
while the third option was that he would prepare soap for me." "Badmos
said that I would be using the soap to bathe every day before going to
my shop,” Nnachata said. The suspect further said that immediately he
and Badmos agreed on a price, he transferred N250,000 to the
herbalist. He added: “I decided to embark on the journey in order to
grow my business and attract more customers. Most importantly, I wanted
to become a billionaire through NaijaBet game.” On his own part, Badmos
said: “When I noticed that I needed human skull for the preparation of
the charm, I contacted another herbalist who is a friend to buy it for
me. The human skull was bought for N30,000. After they brought it, I
grounded it with some other ingredients and added it to a black
soap.” The suspects were arrested after the police received a tip-off
that a cemetery guard desecrated a grave in order to steal a human

of revelations about her divorce. But a lot of what she said rubbed her
ex-husband Keri Lewis the wrong way and he has reacted.During the show
with Jada Pinkett Smith, Toni Braxton, who is now engaged to Birdman,
revealed that there was a time she was angry about having to pay her ex
alimony.She said:“I went through this phase of, ‘oooh, men are the new
b*tches!’ That’s how I felt. That’s what I was so angry about."

also said that she believes their breakup was over money and her lupus
diagnosis.She explained:"I felt shallow because my ex-husband and I
broke up for money issues…I found out I had lupus at the time, I

was my personal contribution to the marriage failing, because who wants

being in the hospital ill and he would come later in the day and I

bitch.. that’s a problem! I’m definitely open for the conversation of
women paying alimony to men, and vice versa, as I do have mixed feelings

A middle aged man, who is yet to be identified, was on Monday Dec. 3rd
run over by a train at the Phikwore Area of Kubwa, a suburb of the
Federal Capital Territory (FCT). According to reports, the victim, who
left a suicide note, was earlier sighted lying down on the rail track
waiting for the train shortly before it killed him. The incident
happened at about 12:45 p.m., a few kilometre away from the Kubwa
Railway Station. The victim left behind a suicide note in a bag
containing some clothes by the side of the railway track. Some of the
eyewitnesses who spoke with NAN said that the note contained a short
message, supposedly to his wife and kid, which reads: “Please forgive me
for I do not have funds to take care of you”. The spokesman to
Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC), Niyi Ali, confirmed the incident
saying that an investigation had begun into the incident to unravel the
real motive behind the act. “We will like to find out what will warrant
a young man to lay in wait on a train track to take his life".Ghana announces plan to impose tax on anointing oil and other religious merchandise
Emmanuel Kofi Nti, the Commissioner-General of the Ghana Revenue
Authority has revealed plans to impose taxes on anointing oil, stickers
and other merchandise sold by churches and pastors. Speaking with Joy
News, the internal revenue boss said that the only church revenues
exempted from the planned taxes are offering and tithes. He said, “The
man of God; is he not an individual? And is he not accountable to the
state for his tax obligations? There is an opportunity for us to look at
it.” He went to specifically say that the sticker of a popular pastor
in Ghana, Bishop Danel Obinim would be taxed accordingly because “it is
income to him (Obinim)?” The GRA has for months been considering a
review of taxable activities by churches. President Addo Dankwa
Akufo-Addo backs this plan for churches in the country to be taxed,
grounding his position on the fact that churches have now moved into the

A ring believed to have been worn by Pontius Pilate, the Roman prefect
who ordered the crucifixion of Jesus, has been found in
Israel, archaeologists say.The 2,000-year-old bronze ring was first
unearthed 50 years ago at Herodium, a fortress built by King Herod, but
archaeologists recently examined it and found the word, "Pilatus" on the
ring. The writing was found after scientists from the Israel
Antiquities Authority cleaned and photographed the ring, which showed a
wine vessel called a "krater", Metro UK reports.

Danny Schwartz told Israeli news outlet Haaretz:I don’t know of any
other Pilatus from the period and the ring shows he was a person of
stature and wealth.Roi Porat, director of the dig at Herodium said, "the
personal connection just cries out". But others suggest that the ring
might have been used by a member of Pilate’s staff to stamp
documents.The researchers wrote:Simple all-metal rings were primarily
the property of soldiers, Herodian and Roman officials, and
middle-income folk of all trades and occupations.It is therefore
unlikely that Pontius Pilatus, the powerful and rich prefect of Judaea,
would have worn a thin, all copper-alloy sealing ring.
Herodium, a fortress built by King HerodMan, 69, who says he identifies as a 46-year-old loses bid to legally change his age
A 69-year-old pensioner, who says he identifies as a 49-year-old
and appealed to a court to legally change his age, has lost the bid to
do so. Emile Ratelband, 69, said that he felt far younger than his real
age implied on his birth certificate. He also said his age limited his
options on dating app Tinder and also limited his job options. He said
he should be allowed to be 49 again (read here). However a district
court in the Netherlands said this was not possible in a ruling
today. Officials ruled that changing someone's age would affect the
legal responsibilities that come with the passing of time.In
a ruling published online, the court said:The court did not find any
reason in Mr Ratelband’s arguments to create new case law in line with
the statutory provisions on changes to a person’s officially registered
name or gender.Its main reason was that, unlike the situation with
respect to a change in registered name or gender, there are a variety of
rights and duties related to age, such as the right to vote and the
duty to attend school.If Mr Ratelband’s request was allowed, those age
requirements would become meaningless.Mr Ratelband's case had been
referred to a court in the city of Arnhmen in the eastern Dutch provice
of Gelderland. 
He
was born on March 11, 1949, but says he feels at least 20 years younger
and wants to change his birth date to March 11, 1969.Mr Ratelband
said:I have done a check-up and what does it show? My biological age is
45 years.When I'm 69, I am limited. If I'm 49, then I can buy a new
house, drive a different car. I can take up more work.When I'm on Tinder
and it say I'm 69, I don't get an answer.When I'm 49, with the face I
have, I will be in a luxurious position.Transgenders can now have their
gender changed on their birth certificate, and in the same spirit there
should be room for an age change.He claims he is discriminated against
because of his age, and that he encounters problems in society on a
daily basis.The judge said that he had some sympathy with Mr Ratelband,
but the court said there would be practical problems in allowing people
to change their birth date as it would mean legally deleting part of

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested and paraded street pop star,
Adekunle Temitope, popularly known as Small Doctor, for unlawful
possession of firearms and for allegedly threatening to shoot a police
officer. Edgal Imohimi, Lagos State Commissioner of Police confirmed
his arrest moments ago while parading the musician along with three
other persons. Small Doctor was arrested on allegations that he
threatened a Police officer who was on traffic duty along Oshodi, Lagos.
“It was alleged that some unknown men, four of them, in an
unregistered green SUV had brought out a gun and threatened a policeman
that if he does not leave the road, they will shoot him.Believing that
they were armed robbers, I sent out my men and fortunately, with the DPO
in charge of Shogunle division, they were able to intercept them and
the men were arrested and were brought down to the headquarters for
interrogation.It was then discovered that one of them is the same
Adekunle Temitope, a.k.a. 'Small Doctor'. They were arrested in
possession of a functional rifle, cartridge and some of their personal
belongings" Imohimi said.According to the commissioner, 'Small Doctor'
had earlier been involved in a similar offence and is currently under
investigation for firing live ammunition at the Agege stadium after a
show on November 27. He said: “Adekunle Temitope, a.k.a. 'Small
Doctor', was arrested and taken to the state CID for questioning. He was
alleged to have fired a gun; the pellets from the gun injured four
people who were rushed to the hospital.” 'Small Doctor' will be charged
