The management of the Ebonyi State University have terminated the
appointment of 63 lecturers and other members of staff of the
institution for alleged certificate forgeries, sexual harassment and
extortion. Confirming the mass sack, the institution's public relations
office, Patrick Itumo, said some of the affected staff were offered an
appointment after they falsified their age, presented fake certificates
and other relevant credentials. Their sack came after an audit report
was submitted by a committee set up to verify credentials of workers of
the institution. “That is the reason for the action we are talking
about; the disengagement. They are not over 300 as being speculated. As I
speak to you, they are 63 in number that have been disengaged. There is
this audit report that was brought out from where these people were
disengaged, 63 of them. Some of them have age discrepancies in their
records. Some people obtained doubtful First School Leaving
Certificates; some obtained their WAEC before their First School Leaving
Certificates. There are people who should have retired at the age of 65
or 70 years and they are still in service and also some adjunct
professors who come from various places whose contracts have been
reviewed up to five times. As of now, nobody among these people has been
reinstated. Students are encouraged to come up with report of sexual
harassment so that the school will look into it. They should talk to the
authorities and they will be protected if they are afraid to make an
open report on it.They should send message to the VC’s phone, to me or
their course adviser; they will be protected. Recently, Chinedu Ogah of
the Department of History and International Relations was dismissed for
sexual harassment and extortion. Also Dr. Egbo of Education Faculty was
also dismissed for sexual harassment. Other cases are still ongoing and
as soon as they are determined, they will be published.” he said

was "scared to death" at one point during the attack. He added that he
felt "sick to his stomach" about the incident that he "fears for his
safety all the time" because Parrino could get "very violent, very
quickly:.He added:I don’t know what she’s going to do next. Parrino was
ordered to stay away from the victim and the Boone County home they were
living in together. She was jailed on a £19,600 cash bail on Monday.

The Management of the University of Ilorin has denied reports that one
of its students, Adigun Emmanuel, committed suicide recently because he
failed his project. In a statement signed and released by its Director of
Corporate Affairs of the university, Kunle Akogun, said that
investigation into Adigun's death, shows that he died as a result of
drug abuse. The news of Adigun's death went viral on Tuesday December
4th after it was widely reported that the student of the Faculty of
Agriculture, committed suicide in his apartment at Oke Odo Area of
Ilorin, Kwara State after he was made to repeat his final year project
for the second time. Adigun told his friends that he was accused of
plagiarizing his project work. As a result, he wasn't allowed to
graduate with his mates. This led him into depression and he allegedly
locked himself in his room on Thursday, 29th of November, and drank a
pesticide called Sniper. The school's director of Corporate Affairs
however said that the university after carrying out its investigation,
has discovered that late Adigun took his own life as an eventual
culmination of his drug addiction. According to Akogun, Adigun took to
drug abuse as a way to deal with his prolonged depression. He said the
deceased told his friends that it was his younger sister that was
sponsoring his education and that it would be very shameful for him to
go back to her the second time to tell her that he failed his project
defecence which is compulsory for any student to pass before
graduation.“Some close friends of the late Mr. Adigun revealed that the
obviously depressed student had unsuccessfully attempted suicide thrice,
having publicly expressed profound regrets on many occasions,” he
said.Akogun said the deceased had a Cumulative Grade Point Average of
2.72 and failed results in seven different courses. The school's
management added that the media reports that the suicide had something
to do with the deceased’s academic challenges at the University of
Ilorin were false.

CrossRiverWatch publisher,
Mr. Agba Jalingo and News Editor, Mr. Jonathan Ugbal, escaped what
seems to be a kidnap or robbery attempt at Amadik community, Arondinzogu
in Imo State while traveling to Lagos by road.
According to Mr. Jalingo who took to Facebook to narrate their ordeal, it was a near death experience. His post below:
“I
woke up this I morning in Calabar to find out that flight ticket to
Lagos from Calabar was 68k. I was angry with Air Peace and decided to
put one of our cars on the road and hit Lagos. I called Jonathan Ugbal
to come drive. We had a smooth journey until we got to Imo state and
things changed.
“About
3pm. A Toyota Highlander SUV that was speeding after us appeared by the
passenger side and there were three guys inside. Two flashed AK47
rifles at us and commanded us to stop or they shoot. Jonathan Ugbal was
driving. I encouraged him not to stop.
“Don’t
stop! I screamed. Reverse and let’s run. Jonathan reversed successfully
and we zoomed. And the worst happened. Fulani herdsmen were carrying
their herd around and the cows strayed into the express. I told Jonathan
to run into them. He did. One cow died and one of our front tire
busted.
“The
impact of the car hitting the cows also forced the bonnet of the car
open and blocked the windscreen and we couldn’t see our way again, with
one front tire down, the vehicle lost control and began to swerve. The
bandits kept shooting at our vehicle from behind and the bullets pierced
several holes behind the car but we both lowered our heads and kept
pushing.
“The
straying cows became a blessing. The cows stopped the bandits’ vehicle
from the pursuit while our car was still swerving until it hit a tree
and got damaged. We both jumped down and ran into a very thick forest.
The bandits came down, ran after us on foot kept firing indiscriminately
while we were in the forest.
“We
spent over an hour in the forest and came out. The man through whose
compound we ran into the bush showed us where his ceiling was riddled
with bullets and how the bandits forcibly broke all his room doors
asking him to bring us out so they can take us away but couldn’t find
us. They also shot two cows dead possibly for blocking their pursuit.
They
also ransacked our car and stole our laptops, bag of clothes,
Jonathan’s phone and other things. When we emerged, the Fulani herdsmen
now started round two. They insisted we must pay for their dead cows. A
good Samaritan took us into hiding in his house after we managed to
stealthily remove my phone which had fell into my shoe. (I managed to
find my own phone because it fell into my shoe which I had removed while
we were driving. The phone miraculously fell into my shoe and the
bandits didn’t see it.)
“I
then put a call across to the Cross River state Police Commissioner, CP
Hafiz Inuwa, who promptly called the Imo CP. Some cops from federal
SARS were sent down. When they arrived we emerged from hiding and the
police rescued us from the herdsmen and took us to Okigwe SARS office.
Another team was also sent to tow our car and the car is now safely
parked at the SARS office in Okigwe.
“While
in SARS office, the commander got a call that the same three man gang
driving the same car had kidnapped one Eze and killed another man who
was driving a Lexus jeep. They went to pick the body while we were still
writing our statements. The police congratulated us for escaping being
kidnapped.
“The
residents of Amadik also told us how they run like they did today,
sometimes up to five times a day, because of the way kidnappers way-lay
people on the road and cause them to run into their community in panic.
As I type, our bodies are riddled with bruises we sustained from
fighting with the elements in the thick forest. We are as dirty as
mechanics and our clothes were all stolen so we can’t even change.
“We
want to thank the commissioners of police in Cross River and Imo States
for their prompt response. But most importantly. I want to specially
thank God for continually proving to be God in this our journey. This is
the second time in 3 months we are escaping death.
“God
won’t leave us alone. God knows we are struggling hard to further the
course of mankind and contribute our quota to the development of our
State, Nigeria and humanity. We are confident that the grace of God will
continually abide with us without ceasing and our mission will be
achieved before we share the grace from this world.”
Mr. Archibong Jeremiah confirmed that “the Police in Imo had recovered the Highlander Jeep and some belongings of the CrossRiverWatch Publisher and News Editor and they are on the trail of the alleged kidnappers/robbers.”
A woman is trending on social media after she released a video
blasting men who take women home and end up sleeping off without having
sex with them.
She also criticized those men who will doze off after just one round
of sex and give the excuse that they have to be at work the following
day.
She added that no man will do that to her without her ensuring that he wakes up to finish what he has started.
Some social media users have blasted her for her comment and told her
that a woman coming to a man's house doesn't equate to consent to have
sex. Others have criticised her for putting so much pressure on men to
perform. However, she's being praised by some people.
Former Big Brother Naija housemate, Khloe, was involved in a ghastly accident in the brand new car that was recently gifted to her by Nigerian footballer Obafemi Martins.
Khloe took to Instagram this morning to reveal the bad news, writing:
'He saved me. I'm grateful Lord. Satan you failed again. Give up or all
your agent will die in my space..'
A father stabbed his two daughters to death yesterday by luring them into the house with mangoes.
Mr James Maina, 30, met his daughters playing outside their home
in Mishomoroni, Mombasa county, Kenya, while their mother wasn't around
and he asked them to come in and eat mangoes.
The girls, aged six and four, followed their father into their
one-room home and he grabbed a knife and stabbed them. One was stabbed
in the chest and the other had her neck slashed.
Rather than call for help, the father, who was reportedly drunk at
the time, sat on a keg near where his bleeding daughters lay.
It wasn't until a neighbour named Ms Lina Righa, who feeds the girls
in the absence of their mother, called for them for lunch and they
didn't respond, that it was discovered something was amiss. Ms Lina
sent her child to check on them but the child returned to tell her that
the door was locked.
She narrated:
The children usually eat lunch at my house when their mother is not
around but when I called them, neither responded. I sent my child to
look for them. She told me their door was locked.
As Ms Righa prepared to go and find out where the children were, their mother, a businesswoman, returned home.
Ms Lina Righa
Ms Lina continued:
I went with her and knocked on the door. The children’s father did
not respond, so we broke down the door. We found him sitting on a
jerrican. He said he had killed the children.
Ms Righa, who is the couple’s landlady, said Mr Maina had spent the whole day indoors drinking.
The couple has been living here for four months and the woman has
been having problems because of her husband’s drinking. She is the one
who has been struggling to feed the family.
Mr Maina’s father, Mr Charles Kimani, acknowledged that his son has
had a drinking problem for years, adding that it has been causing
problems in his eight-year marriage.
Mombasa Police Commander Johnston Ipara said that Mr Maina was arrested and is being held at the Nyali Police Station.
Nigeria's President Muhammadu Buhari has denied rumours that he has died and been replaced by a lookalike.
Some people thought he had been "cloned", but "it's [the] real me, I assure you," Mr Buhari said.
Rumours that he had been replaced with a body double called "Jubril" from Sudan had been widely shared online.
The
75-year-old Mr Buhari, who is seeking re-election in February next
year, has been beset by ill health since taking office in 2015.
He was on "medical leave" in the UK for three months in 2017.
He
revealed after his return to Nigeria that "I have never been so sick",
but did not disclose what he was suffering from. He insists he is now in
good health.
According to an AFP Fact Check investigation. Posts promoting the rumours have been viewed more than 500,000 times.
A
former aide to Mr Buhari's predecessor, Goodluck Jonathan, is among the
high profile individuals who have promoted the rumours.
'Ignorant and irreligious'
Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of secessionist group Indigenous People of Biafra (Ipob), has also been fuelling the rumours, AFP found.
In
one instance, Mr Kanu shared two images of Mr Buhari, one reversed, to
allege that the Nigerian leader, who is right-handed, was using his left
hand - "proving" that that meant he was a body double.
End of Twitter post by @MaziNnamdiKanu
A scene from the 1997 film "Face/Off" has also been
used by those promoting the rumours to show how a dead Buhari's face
could have been transplanted to a body double.
Mr Buhari, who is
in Poland attending a UN climate change conference, was asked about the
rumours during a meeting on Sunday with Nigerians in the country.
His personal assistant shared a video of his answer:

Mr Buhari, who will celebrate his 76th birthday on
17 December, said those spreading the rumours about his health and
identity were ''ignorant and irreligious.''
''A lot of people
hoped that I died during my ill health. Some even reached out to the
vice-president to consider them to be his deputy because they assumed I
was dead.
"That embarrassed him a lot and of course, he visited
me when I was in London convalescing… It's [the] real me; I assure
you,'' Mr Buhari added.
A former vice-president, Atiku Abubakar, 72, has emerged as Mr Buhari's main challenger in next year's election.
The
opposition is expected to make the president's health a major campaign
issue, but Mr Buhari said: "I'm still going strong."
Many
Nigerians are surprised that President Buhari chose to respond to the
extraordinary claim that he has a body double called "Jubril".
The
claim has been an online joke for months, generally dismissed as fake
news, and largely ignored by many reputable media organisations.
It has, however, been used by Mr Buhari's detractors to call into question the state of his health.
Contrary
to the expectations of the president's aides, his statement that he is
"not a clone" may lead to greater focus on his health as he prepares for
a gruelling election campaign.
Greenland's massive ice sheets contain enough water to raise global sea levels by 23 feet, and a new study shows that they are melting at a rate "unprecedented" over centuries -- and likely thousands of years.
The study, published Thursday in the scientific journal Nature,
found that Greenland's ice loss accelerated rapidly in the past two
decades after remaining relatively stable since the dawn of the
Industrial Revolution in the mid-1800s.
Today,
Greenland's ice sheets are melting at a rate 50% higher than
pre-industrial levels and 33% above 20th-century levels, the scientists
found.
"What
we were able to show is that the melting that Greenland is experiencing
today is really unprecedented and off the charts in the longer-term
context," said Sarah Das, an associate scientist at the Woods Hole
Oceanographic Institution and a co-author of the study.
To
determine just how fast Greenland's ice is retreating compared with the
past, scientists used a drill the size of a traffic light pole to take
ice core samples.
The samples were
taken from sites more than 6,000 feet above sea level, giving the
researchers a window into melting on the ice sheet over the past several
centuries.
A new study shows that Greenland's ice sheet is melting at an "unprecedented" rate.
In the wake of October's dire report
from the UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change warning that
civilization has just more than a decade to stave off climate
catastrophe, Thursday's report spells more bad news for the planet,
especially the millions of people living near the world's oceans.
Melting
from Greenland's ice sheet is the largest single driver of global sea
level rise, which scientists predict could swamp coastal cities and
settlements in the coming decades.
The
study also found that Greenland's ice loss is driven primarily by
warmer summer air and that even small rises in temperature can trigger
exponential increases in the ice's melt rate.
"As
the atmosphere continues to warm, melting will outpace that warming and
continue to accelerate," said Luke Trusel, an assistant professor at
Rowan University and study co-author.
According
to Trusel, the current thought in the scientific community is that
there is a temperature threshold that could trigger a point of no return
for the eventual melting of Greenland and Antarctica's ice sheets. And
though we don't know exactly what that temperature tipping point is,
"what's clear is that the more we warm, the more ice melts."
"Once
the ice sheets reach these tipping points, it's thought that they'll go
into a state of irreversible retreat, so they'll be responding to what
we do now for centuries and milliennia into the future," Trusel said.
Das
stressed that although climate science often focuses on the future
impacts of warming, the findings show that the climate is already
undergoing hugely significant changes.
"Climate
change -- whether it's in Greenland or in your backyard -- is already
here and already happening and already impacting people. It's not
something that's coming in the future, and this study really drives home
that point," she said.
The pastor from Soshanguve, north of Pretoria, South Africa appeared in
magistrate's court on Thursday, to face two counts of rape and one of
sexual assault. The pastor is alleged to have been abusing a group of
boys that were attending a ministry school at his church to graduate as
pastors themselves.A now 19-year-old victim said he was 16 years old
when the abuse started. He said he had been staying and sleeping at the
Hands of God International Ministries for three years to train as a
pastor."It started in 2015 one night when he woke me up while I was
sleeping with other boys in another bedroom that we shared as junior
pastors," the teen said. He said the pastor called him to his bedroom
and told him that he was the "chosen one"."He said God had chosen me to
be his (pastor) protector. He 'anointed' himself with oil all over his
body and started kissing me while I was shocked. He then penetrated
me."The teen said he was scared to tell his parents each morning when he
got home because they were also members of the church and loved the
pastor very much. His mother said: "I'm angry at myself because I have
missed out on three years of my son's life and [not seeing] the signs
that I could have noticed. However, I want justice for all these
children that he has been taking advantage of because of our kindness as
parents."Another boy said he did report the abuse to church after he
was raped in 2014 but no one believed him."I remember the pain I felt
when he first raped me, I could not even sit for three days but I kept
quiet because he made me believe he was imparting supernatural powers to
me as a servant. I am very angry that it's only now that more guys have
come out that I'm believed."He said he was now taking drugs to numb the
pain the pastor inflicted on his life."This broke me and the past four
years have been hell seeing him pass by my house after leaving the
church."The third victim said the pastor demanded him to perform blow
jobs on him every night. He said he eventually ran away from the church
because it was traumatising him.The matter was postponed to January 25
for further investigations.- SowetanLive
A Lagos governorship candidate, Babatunde Gbadamosi is scared for his
life and has taken to social media to cry out saying his life is in
danger and some people want to murder him. In his words, 'In this same
Lagos State, when Engineer Funsho Williams looked likely to win the 2007
elections, he was murdered by "persons unknown". I want the world to
know now that some political personages in Lagos State are making plans
to murder me if they can't stop me democratically'.Funsho Williams
relied on Police protection but he was still murdered, in fact, the very
night he went to make a formal complaint to the police at Zone 2 Police
Headquarters at Onikan about a threat to his life, he did not live to
see the next day.My would-be murderers will soon send their minions to
come and troll this announcement, to make me look like I'm crying wolf,
just as they did to Funsho. My life is at risk, but I will not relent in
the quest to free Lagos State from modern day SLAVE MASTERS.

On Friday, November 30th 2018, a 7.0-magnitude earthquake ripped apart
this road in Anchorage, Alaska, and created a huge hole that made the
unfortunate SUV that fell in look like a toy. However, in less than four
days, the road was already fixed. The jagged chucks of broken road are
gone, the hole is filled, the road has been repaved and fresh lines have
been painted. According to the Alaska Department of Transportation and
Public Facilities, it's harder to pave roads at this time of year
because of the cold temperatures, but they were able to do it. The
federal government released $5 million in emergency funds a day after
the incident to help get the repairs done.(: Alaska Tour &
