The
National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in Nasarawa State has recommended
that seven corps members posted to the state face disciplinary measures
for committing various offences during their service year. Zainab
Isah, NYSC Coordinator in the state, made this known in an interview
with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Thursday in Lafia. NYSC in the
state supervised a low-key Passing out Parade (POP) for the 2017 Batch
“B” Stream II corps members in Lafia, and other local government areas
of the state. Isah said the affected corps members would face
punishment after final ratification by the Nasarawa State NYSC Governing
Board. She said that some of them faced the possibility of having their
service year extended by various periods for contravening the NYSC
bye-laws. “Some corps members erred during the service year. We have
seven corps members that have disciplinary cases. Some of them missed
the monthly allowances because they embarked on unauthorised journeys
and others left their places of primary assignment without permission
among other offences.For those who absconded, the allowances they missed
are what would be used to pay them as they served their punishment and
the period of the extension depended on the gravity of the misconduct,’’
she said. The NYSC state coordinator said the decision to punish the
erring corps members was based on the recommendation of the state NYSC
Disciplinary Committee. She added that it, however, had to be ratified
by the NYSC governing board. “We have a committee on corps discipline,
comprising all Assistant Directors and all heads of branches in the
secretariat. This body looks into the cases and invites the corps
members concerned to defend themselves. At the end, a decision is taken
strictly in accordance with our laws but the decision takes effect after
the NYSC governing board has ratified it,’’ Isah said. The coordinator
advised the 524 corps members comprising 340 males and 184 females, who
were passing out, to take advantage of the skills they acquired during
their service year for self-employment. She urged them to take advantage
of the training to support themselves pending when a government job
would come. Isah thanked the state government for supporting NYSC and
pleaded that corps members, who performed exceptionally and made
significant impact in their primary assignments, should be absorbed in
the state’s civil service. She said that only three of the corps
members that were passing out would be given awards for their exemplary
service during the year. The NYSC coordinator added that this would also
need ratification from the NYSC governing board in the state.Doctors Instruct Michelle Williams To Quit Broadway Show Immediately

who starred in the original production, Lea Salonga, will take over
until the final show on January 6, 2019.2018 has been a trying period for William who had a bout with depression sometime in the year and had to spend several days in a mental health facility. Her relationship with former partner, Chad Johnson, also suffered as the couple, who had their own reality show about their relationship, called it quits in early December.

2019: IDPs in Niger, Chad will be allowed to vote- INEC says
The
Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, says it would make
special provisions for IDPs outside Nigeria, particularly in Chad and
Niger republic, to vote in 2019 general elections.INEC chairman, Yakubu
Mahmood, disclosed this at a a stakeholders validation conference
yesterday December 12th.“IDPs in the neighbouring countries of Niger and
Chad who left their abodes due to insurgency in the North East would
not be denied their voting rights.”he saidThe commission had before the
2015 general elections pushed for an amendment of the Electoral Act
which gave rise to Section 26(1) of the 2015 Electoral Act (as amended).
The section provides that; “In the event of an emergency affecting an
election, the Commission shall, as far as possible, ensure that persons

Chad Johnson, 40, was off. New Venue For Named For Wizkid’s Port-Harcourt Concert Amid Controversy
Starboy CEO, Wizkid, in collaboration with Port-Harcourt born artiste Mr 2Kay, were scheduled to host a charity concert titled “God Can Bless Anybody” in the garden city on the 14th of December 2018 at the Yakubu Gowon international stadium formerly known as Liberation Stadium.
However, the concert will now hold a the Port-Harcourt Polo Club after the State government reportedly revoked the permission it had earlier given for the stadium to be used.
The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) believed to be funding the supposed charity event allegedly gave a huge undisclosed amount of money to host the concert with Wizkid who is set to headline the event allegedly paid a whopping N30M as appearance fee for him and his crew.
The show promoters(MMM Boss) equally approached the Rivers state government to use the huge capacity Yakubu Gowon international stadium for the concert which was given out to them free of charge.
However, few days to the event, sources claim that the PDP led Rivers
State government allegedly got a wind of information that the All
Progressives Congress APC) were planning to use the concert as a
campaign platform being that the major financiers of the Charity concert
are the All Progressives Congress (APC) Led Federal Government owned
NDDC .
This reportedly did not go down well with the Rivers State Peoples
Democratic Party (PDP) led government who immediately decided the
concert be stopped from holding at the state-owned facility!The new Port-Harcourt polo club venue which holds less than 3’000 is a far cry from the stadium venue which can carry 16,000.

Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics begin Indefinite strike
The Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP) on Wednesday began an
indefinite strike over non-implementation of the 2009 and 2017 agreement
reached with the union by the federal government. The polytechnic
lecturers now join their university colleagues who have been on strike
since November 4. The National President of ASUP, Usman Dutse, said the
federal government had invited the union for dialogue on December 17 but
the strike would continue till then. Prior to the strike, the union
had on October 2 issued a 21-day ultimatum to the government before it
extended it to November. But even then, it did not commence the
strike. Dutse said the strike had commenced, adding that there is total
compliance by all chapters. “We have zonal coordinators and a
monitoring team, zone by zone, all over the country. Already from the
report we are getting, we are satisfied with the level of compliance
from all our zones but we are reviewing the day’s activity in a meeting
now,” he said.Dutse said the government has failed to implement and
fulfill agreements it reached with the union as contained in the
memorandum of understanding signed. The union went on strike over
non-implementation of the NEEDS Assessment report of 2014, non-payment
of salaries in state-owned institutions, non-payment of allowances, and
the victimisation of union members, among others. ASUP went on strike
in November 2017, but when the federal government reached an agreement
to implement the recommendations of the 2014 NEEDS assessment, the

A woman was caught yesterday allegedly trying to behead her daughter in
an uncompleted building in Delta state.In photos shared to Facebook, the
12-year-old girl can be seen bleeding from her neck. Her mother was on
the floor, looking spent and defeated with blood on her clothes too. 
According
to Facebook user, Isaac Omoyibo, the woman was caught trying to behead
the girl in a building under construction. Timely intervention of locals
allegedly helped foil the attempted murder which people are attributing
