Former Destinys Child Singer, Michelle Williams, will abandon her role on Broadway’s “Once On This Island” following orders from her doctors.
“Effective immediately, Michelle T. Williams has been advised by doctors to take a leave of absence from performing,” read a statement from the show, according to People. No further explanation or information was given for the decision.
Michelle, 38, had only been in the role of ‘goddess Erzulie’ for two
weeks but will now step aside for her understudy, Cassondra James, who
will take over until December 26. Beginning the next day, the actress
who starred in the original production, Lea Salonga, will take over
until the final show on January 6, 2019.2018 has been a trying period for William who had a bout with depression sometime in the year and had to spend several days in a mental health facility. Her relationship with former partner, Chad Johnson, also suffered as the couple, who had their own reality show about their relationship, called it quits in early December.
It is unclear of the singer is any serious medical danger as there hasn’t been any announcement from her camp
