Animal
rights activists stripped naked and covered themselves in fake blood in
a busy square in Barcelona to protest animal cruelty.The latest
demonstration was part of a campaign to protest the use of fur and
leather in consumer goods.On December 16, the activists lay down in
Plaça de Catalunya, with one holding a sign reading "How many lives just
for one coat?" in Spanish. 
Photographs
from the demonstration show the protesters lying motionless on top of
one another to resemble dead or dying animals.The demonstration was
organised by Anima Naturalis, the international non-profit which
campaigns for animal rights in Spain and Latin America.According to
animal rights organisation PETA, more than 85% fur sold around the world
comes from farm facilities where, minks, foxes and other animals are
locked in cages for their entire lives before being killed and
skinned.The UK has made fur farming illegal, however, the practice still

Gallant
men of the Bayelsa State Vigilante Service apprehended a cultist who
claims to be a member of greenland cult in Swali, while he and his gang
members were robbing around 4:45AM on Monday morning. The young man, who

Richard Iyiola Akindele, a former lecturer at the Obafemi Awolowo
University, Ile Ife, who is currently facing trial for demanding sex to
pass one of his students, Monica Osagie, has pleaded guilty to the
charges against him.At the resumed hearing of the case on Monday,
December 17th, Akindele changed his plea from ‘not guilty’ to
‘guilty.’Recall that the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related
Offences Commission (ICPC) dragged Akindele before the Federal High
Court, Osogbo on November 19th, after evidence provided by the victim,
pointed to the fact that he was culpable. He was arraigned on a
three-count charge bothering on "using his position as a lecturer in the
Department of Management and Accounting to demand for sexual benefit
from a student and fraudulently upgrade her result in Research Method
course which she supposedly failed in 2017". He pleaded not guilty when
the charges were read to him on November 19th.However at a resumed
hearing of the case today, the accused pleaded guilty. The prosecutor,
Shogunle Adenekan, said all parties in the matter had reached an
agreement and pleaded for a suspended sentence for the accused.

Tolulope, a farmer, took to her twitter handle this afternoon to lament
over the destruction of her farmland by suspected herdsmen. According
to Aina, suspected Fulani herdsmen invaded her farmland last night and
destroyed her cassava plants. She said the incident comes after another
group of herdsmen destroyed one of her clients 10 hectares cassava
farmland that was due for harvest. She wrote;

Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) has arrested a Nigerian national after
he was caught in possession of 25 kilograms of ephedrine. Officials said
they received specific inputs about the Nigerian national's involvement
in ephedrine trafficking.The officers then placed him and the area
under surveillance, following which his house was raided. 
During
the search, 25.2 kilograms of ephedrine, a control substance under the
Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, was recovered.
The drug was concealed in thread rolls, the police said.
The
arrested accused has been identified only as Prince, and has been under
the agency's radar for his involvement in another case of drug
trafficking, for which he was booked earlier this year."Preliminary
investigation revealed that he came to India in 2010, and had been
overstaying in Delhi without a valid visa. He also revealed that he used
to procure this substance from his associates in Delhi, and would
further send the drugs to Nigeria and other African countries with the
help of African carriers for the preparation of Amphetamine Types of
Substances (ATS)," said Madho Singh, zonal director, Delhi Zonal Unit,
Narcotics Control Bureau.
The
officers added that they are looking out for Prince's other associates.
