LASEMA warns miscreants in Lagos against attack of emergency workers

LASEMA warns miscreants in Lagos against attack of emergency workersThe Lagos State Emergency Management Agency has warned miscreants who are in the habit of attacking emergency responders, inflicting injuries on them and destroying government vehicles during emergency situations to desist from such heinous acts. The General Manager, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, Adesina Tiamiyu gave the warning today at the Secretariat, Ikeja following the recent grievous attacks on the Agency’s operatives at Obanikoro and Ejigbo area of the State, noting that the perpetrators of the dastardly act would be fished out and prosecuted appropriately. He explained that such act is mostly perpetrated by some unscrupulous elements who do not have any role to play at the scene of the incident, but rather create pandemonium thereby impeding the smooth operation of the emergency officers and putting their lives at risk by inflicting injuries on them.  According to him, “Emergency workers should be seen as your friends coming to give help to people in distress as well as salvage property during emergency situations such as road traffic accident, fire outbreak and so on; as such they should be allowed to carry out their assigned duties without any hindrance to avoid unnecessary loss of lives and properties”. Tiamiyu noted that the present administration has invested heavily in all emergency/security operatives towards prompt and adequate intervention to all emergency incidents in the State, stressing that the Agency has been decentralised from the Command and Control Centre, Alausa, Ikeja to other parts of the State such as Lekki by Admiralty Way; Onipanu on Ikorodu Road and Cappa Dispatch Centre, Oshodi. While urging Lagosians who utilise the emergency toll-free line 112/767 for reporting an emergency situation, he implored motorists especially commercial bus drivers to always ensure they give right of way to all emergency vehicles heading towards emergency locations.
