Police carrying out a search in Tenerife have found a woman's body near
the spot where a British animal trainer disappeared.28-year-old Amy
Gerard, who was originally from Grimsby, went missing in the early hours
of Friday morning. The remains were discovered in the sea opposite the lighthouse in the city of Puerto de la Cruz where Amy Gerard lived. A
police spokesman said:I can confirm a woman's body has been found in
the sea.It is too early to say at this stage whether it is that of the
missing Briton or not.The discovery comes after a video emerged showing
Amy singing along to The Pogues song Fairytale of New York in the Molly
Malone Irish pub in Puerto de la Cruz in the early hours of Friday
morning. She can be seen holding hands with German boyfriend Dennis
Kissling as she dances along with her colleagues before turning to the
camera to blow a kiss, according to footage obtained by The Sun. Brendan
Reid Spencer, who owns the bar, said Molly arrived with six colleagues
around 11pm on Thursday to celebrate a friend's birthday and listen to
live music. Moments after the footage was taken she left the bar with
her boyfriend before they parted ways at the entrance. She has not been
seen since. She was reported missing by a friend on Saturday morning
and a search began immediately, leading to the discovery of the body
today. But it hasn't been confirmed if she is the one.
